摘要： In a liquid crystal display device, liquid crystal molecules are oriented in a vertical direction to the first substrate and the second substrate by the first molecule orientation film and the second molecule orientation film, respectively, in a non-driving state. A structural pattern is formed so as to extend in a first direction parallel to a surface of the liquid crystal layer and so as to form, in a driving state, an electric field periodically changing in a second direction that is parallel to the liquid crystal layer and vertical to the first direction. The liquid crystal molecules substantially tilt in the first direction in the driving state.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device is manufactured by placing a liquid crystal composition in the gap between two parallel substrates followed by polymerization to form a liquid crystal layer, wherein the liquid crystal composition comprises a free radical scavenger, no voltage is applied between the electrodes at an initial polymerization period, ultraviolet rays are irradiated at an intensity of 1 mW/cm2 or less at an initial polymerization period, the liquid crystal composition is subjected, prior to the polymerization, to heat treatment at a temperature equal to or above the phase transition temperature of the used liquid crystal, or the liquid crystal composition is supplied dropwise onto a substrate and the substrates are bonded together in vacuum to place the liquid crystal composition into the gap between the substrates. A liquid crystal display device with no or little occurrence of display irregularities is provided.

摘要： A liquid crystal display including a pair of substrates arranged opposite to each other, electrodes respectively formed on opposite surfaces of the pair of substrates, and an alignment regulating structural member, formed on at least one of the pair of substrates, and which includes at least one of a linear projection arranged on the electrode and a slit portion formed by removing a part of an electrode material of the electrode. A liquid crystal layer is sealed between the substrates and has a negative dielectric anisotropy, in which alignment control is made such that when a voltage is applied to the electrodes, an alignment orientation of a liquid crystal domain in a region adjacent to the alignment regulating structural member is different from an extending direction of the alignment regulating structural member by approximately 45°, and at a time of no voltage application, a liquid crystal molecule of a region where the alignment regulating structural member does not exist is substantially vertically aligned, and a liquid crystal molecule on the alignment regulating structural member or on its opposite portion is un-vertically aligned.

摘要： Lowpass and highpass filters, having cutoff frequencies different from each other, are used to perform first to fourth filter processing. Then, product-sums of outputs of respective filter processing are obtained. Then, frequencies corresponding to the resonance frequency are obtained based on the result of respective product-sum calculations. The thus obtained frequencies are different from each other in the degree of influence of noise components. Then, among the obtained frequencies, an optimum frequency having less influence of noise components is selected. Then, the selected frequency is smoothed to obtain a resonance frequency for a pneumatic tire pressure estimation.
