    • Method and apparatus for detecting the most powerfully changed and for the human eye most important picture areas in a video image in order to compress the live image into a transmission channel which functions at the rates of narrow bandwidth data connections. In the conditional replenishment method, the new digitized picture information read into the video memory is compared to the already transmitted picture information stored in the reference memory, and the difference value, i.e. the change value (M) between these is compared to the preset change treshold (T). If the change value surpasses the change threshold (T), the picture information of the picture element (pel) and/or area of image in question is coded and transmitted, and the corresponding picture information is stored into the reference memory preparatory to a new comparison. In the method and apparatus of the invention, the comparison between the new picture information and the transmitted picture information is carried out so that the change values in each predetermined picture area are calculated by means of summing the differences of the intensity readings of the new picture and the reference picture pel by pel, whereafter the change values (M) obtained for each picture area are combined into a change histogram for the whole frame, the said histogram containing the change values (M) of the picture areas in order of magnitude. From the change histogram, there is chosen a number, defined by the predetermined reference value (Nc), of picture areas with the largest change values, and the change value of the chosen picture area with the smallest change value is set as the change threshold (T = Mopt).

    • A method and apparatus for outlining the manipulation environment of a duty machine in order to automatically determine the working cycles. The method includes a laser pointer (2) which measures the direction and distance of the laser beam with respect to the object. By means of the pointer there is registered a set of points (1), which can be formed of separate points or of continuous lines and which gives a rough illustration of the entire manipulation space, i.e. its free space and the objects located therein. The set of points is completed to form a model of the manipulation environment both by means of geometric plane figures (primitive volumes) (3) sent from the user's keyboard, and by means of mathematical algorithms, in order to match the spatial planes and curves with the given set of points. The automatically determined trajectories are corrected during the working performance according to the feedback information received from the object under operations.

    • The invention relates to a method for treating a biological sample collected in or comprising a carbohydrate based matrix such that the sample may be analysed more reliably. According to the invention the sample is brought into contact with an enzyme product comprising cellulase, hemicellulase, amylase and/or pectinase activity in order to loosen the matrix structure. The invention also relates to a method for analysing biological samples and a test kit for sampling such material. The test kit typically contains a sampling device, which comprises a part of fibrous material, to which biological material may be collected or absorbed, and a pretreatment agent containing hydrolase activity, with which the sample material absorbed in the fibrous material may be released for analysis.
