摘要： Images based on each of a plurality of color components are formed; the formed images are transferred on each transfer medium to form an image quality determining image; the image quality of the image quality determining image is determined on the basis of the detected density thereof, an adjustment image is formed by overlaying and transferring an image of other color component to be adjusted to the reference image of the reference color image out of the plurality of color components, on the transfer medium; the density of the adjustment image is detected; and the image forming position of the other color component to be adjusted is adjusted on the basis of the detected density. At the time of executing the color matching adjustment process for detecting the overlaid state of color component images, it is determined whether a specified time has passed or not since the previous adjustment process, a specified number of images are formed or not, environments are changed or not, and the power source is turned on or off or not. When it is predicted that the quality of the formed image is out of an appropriate range, a quality checking image is formed, its image quality is checked, and the color matching adjustment process is executed only when it is within an appropriate range.

A coupling section at which the photoreceptor drum is attached to or detached from an image forming apparatus main body includes an input section and an apparatus output section. The input section is includes an internal gear having teeth of an involute curve formed in an inner surface of the rear-side flange section and receives rotation driving force from the image forming apparatus main body. The apparatus output section is composed of an external gear having teeth in the same shape and in the number as the internal gear, and outputs the rotation driving force from the image forming apparatus main body to the input section.

摘要： A light-sensitive unit used in an image-forming device such as an electrostatic copier or printer, which enables one to easily mount and demount a light-sensitive drum without removing an electrically charging device and with no fear of damaging an edge of a cleaning blade. A second process unit (light-sensitive unit) has a resin-made frame having a cleaning device and includes a light-sensitive drum and an electrically charging device, which are removably mounted therein respectively. The light-sensitive drum is mounted in the frame by first axially inserting its rear-end bearing portion into a rear-side drum-holder and by horizontally turning its front-end bearing portion and placing it in a front-side drum-holder along a guide groove provided in the side thereof. Finally, a stopper is fitted in the front-side drum-holder to prevent the drum from slipping out of the holder.

摘要： A color image apparatus which has a cooling arrangement to help prevent a plurality of light-scanning units for respective colors therein from being adversely influenced by heat from a thermally fixing unit within the apparatus. In a space portion where all light-scanning units are housed, an air-exhausting fan is provided in the vicinity of the light-scanning unit nearest to the thermally fixing unit, and an air hole is formed at a position farthest from the thermally fixing unit. Additionally a temperature sensor is mounted on the light-scanning unit nearest to the thermally fixing unit. Rotation speed of the air-exhausting fan is controlled so that the temperature detected by the sensor does not exceed a predetermined temperature limit.

摘要： An object of the invention is to provide an image forming apparatus in which a unit can be attached to the apparatus body in a status where a correct positional correlation between a photoconductive drum and each of other process devices mounted on a unit is maintained. A photoconductive drum is positioned within a copier body by a rotating drive shaft, and the other process devices mounted on a process unit are positioned within a copier body by a boss and a locking member. The boss positions the rotating drive shaft within the copier body. Since the locking member is fitted onto a front-side end of the rotation drive shaft, the locking member is positioned within the copier body by the rotating drive shaft. The other process devices mounted on the process unit are positioned within the copier body by the rotating drive shaft via the boss and the locking member. Accordingly, the photoconductive drum and each of the other process devices, which should maintain a predetermined positional correlation with each other within the copier body, are both positioned within the copier body by the rotating drive shaft.

In the charging device, elevation suppression means is provided at the opposing ends of the regulation member for regulating the distance between the surface of the photoreceptor and the grid plate.
