    • A color image forming apparatus in which a charging, imagewise exposing and developing operations are repeated onto an image forming drum to register different colored toner images thereon and thereby to transfer simultaneously the toner images onto a recording sheet, includes four imagewise exposing units which are disposed inside the image forming drum and are fixed in a main body of the image forming apparatus. Two each of the exposing units and the developing units are disposed respectively on both sides with predetermined angles with respect to a vertical line passing through the center of the image forming drum.     • A color scanner having two lines of CCD. One of the CCD line is used for scanning green image of a document, and another CCD line is used for scanning red and blue images of the document. In the CCD line for red and blue image scanning, red and blue filters are located alternatively on the pixel sensors in a lined shape. In order to obtain a pixel density corresponding to the red image and blue image as same as that to the green image, each of red and blue image signals is processed from two image signals. The color scanner is provided with a memory to store red and blue image signals so that those signals are processed with next-obtained red and blue image signals. The color scanner also includes a shift register to delay green image signals so that all of red, blue, and green image signals are carried out to a processor simultaneously.

    • An image forming device and method for an electrophotographic process wherein a digital image forming device forms an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor by beam modulation of digital image data from a computer or the like. The electrostatic latent image is formed in the form of dots by a light-modulated laser beam, and the electrostatic latent image is developed to form an image. A reference wave signal generating circuit is provided for generating a reference wave signal of a predetermined wave form, and a modulating circuit modulates an image density signal with the reference wave signal and outputs a modulated signal.     • An apparatus for forming images on at least one surface of a sheet includes a reader for reading image information on documents, a memory for storing image signals output by the reader, and an image forming unit for selectively forming one of: (i) two page toner images corresponding to the image signals of two pages of the documents separately on two image carrying members, and (ii) a single toner image on one of the two image carrying members. A jam detector detects a jammed sheet, and a delivery detector detects delivery of a copied sheet to outside the apparatus. Image signals are eliminated from memory in accordance with a progression of image formation. If the jam detector detects the occurrence of the jammed sheet, a control unit prohibits the memory from eliminating the image signals until the delivery detector detects a next sheet delivered from the apparatus, so that the selected image expected to be formed by the image forming unit on the jammed sheet may be properly formed on a following sheet based on the image signals retained in the memory. A selector is provided for selecting one of a both-surface copy mode and a single-surface copy mode, wherein the control unit controls the memory to store the image signals corresponding to two pages of the documents when the both-surface copy mode is selected and to store the image signals corresponding to the single page of the documents when the single-surface copy mode is selected.

    • An image forming apparatus includes a first image carrier on which a toner image forming device forms a toner image; a second image carrier provided opposite to the first image carrier, onto which the toner image on the first image carrier is transferred; first and second transfer devices for transferring the toner image on the first and second image carriers onto one side and the other side of a transfer material, respectively; and a fixing device for fixing the toner images on both sides of the transfer material transferred respectively by the first and second transfer devices. The fixing device includes first and second fixing members provided opposite to one side and the other side of the transfer material, respectively, wherein the transfer material passes between the first and second fixing members, and first and second sensors are provided for detecting temperature of the first and second fixing members respectively. The apparatus further includes a control device for controlling the toner image forming device, the first and second transfer devices, and the fixing device. The control device enables image formation on both sides of the transfer material or on one side of the transfer material, and prohibits image formation on at least both sides of the transfer material when the temperature detected by the first sensor is appropriate for the first fixing member, and the temperature detected by the second sensor is not appropriate for the second fixing member.

In such the image forming apparatus, the discharge lamp starts exposing the surface with the light and the bias voltage, with which the surface is charged, is set at substantially 0 volt before the driving starts moving the surface and the magnetic brush member; and the predetermined image area of the surface is charged with the bias voltage, including the DC component and the AC component, after the driving starts moving the surface and the magnetic brush member.
