    • The rotation output of a continuously variable transmission (2) which transmits the rotation of an input shaft 1 at an arbitrary speed ratio is input to a sun gear (5A) of a planetary gear set (5) arranged on a final output shaft (6). A ring gear (5C) of the planetary gear set (5) is joined to the final output shaft (6). An output gear (3B) of a fixed speed ratio transmission (3) which transmits the rotation of the input shaft (1) at a fixed speed ratio is arranged on the final output shaft (6) and joined to a planet carrier (5B). An input gear 3A of the fixed speed ratio transmission (3), the output gear (3B), a device output gear (7), a final gear (12), the sun gear (5A), a planet gear (5D) of the planetary gear set (5), and the ring gear (5C) comprise helical gears having oblique tooth traces, and the directions of the tooth traces of the sun gear (5A), planet gear (5D) and ring gear (5C) are set so that a thrust load exerted by the planet carrier (5B), which rotates faster than the sun gear (5A), on the sun gear (5A), and a thrust load exerted by the planet carrier (5B), which rotates faster than the sun gear (5A), on the ring gear (5C), do not cancel each other out. A member (14) is further provided which supports the load acting on the sun gear (5A) along the final output shaft (6), and the directions of the tooth traces of the output gear (3B), input gear (3A), device output gear (7) and final gear (12) are set so that either of the thrust load acting on the device output gear (7) and the thrust load acting on the output gear (3B) is opposite to the thrust load acting on the ring gear (5C).

    • In an infinite speed ratio transmission device comprising a continuously variable transmission (2), fixed speed ratio transmission (3) and planetary gear set (5), a final output shaft (6) is provided to extract the rotation output of the planetary gear mechanism (5). The output gear (3B), a sprocket (4A) and transmission device output gear (7) are formed on a final output shaft (6). The output gear (3B) engages with an input gear (3A) of the fixed speed ratio transmission (3), and the device output gear (7) engages with the final gear (12). The output of the continuously variable transmission (2) is transmitted to the sprocket (4A) via a chain (40). Of the gear set of the input gear (3A) and output gear (3B) and the gear set of the device output gear (7) and final gear (12), one set comprises helical gears having helical tooth traces. The orientation of the tooth traces is set so that the moment exerted by the rotating helical gears on the final output shaft (6) suppresses the bending stress in the final output shaft (6) due to the tension of the chain (40).

    • An endless transmission belt assembly for a power transmission mechanism includes an endless belt element of a laminated structure, and a number of segmentary block elements aligned in a longitudinal direction of the belt element. A belt recess is formed in the block element for passing the belt element therethrough, having a contact surface which is brought into contact with innermost surface of the belt element. A rocking edge is provided for the block element, which comes into contact with an adjacent block element as relevant span portion of the belt assembly is wound around the pulley, causing a relative rocking motion of adjacent blocks. The block elements are constituted of no less than two kinds of block elements of mutually different radial distance between the contact surface of the belt recess and the rocking edge.

    • An information processing system establishes connection between an information storage apparatus and an application installed in a terminal including a storage device for storing authentication information. The information processing system includes a setting information acquisition unit configured to acquire setting information from the information storage apparatus when the terminal receives an execution request to execute the application, the setting information indicating whether to prompt input of the authentication information. The information processing system also includes an authentication process unit configured to display a screen for inputting the authentication information on a display device of the terminal when the setting information acquired by the setting information acquisition unit calls for prompting input of the authentication information, and determine executability of the application when the authentication information that is input via the screen displayed on the display device matches the authentication information that is stored in the storage device.
