    • An image forming method wherein an aqueous dispersion is prepared in a vessel of an apparatus. The aqueous dispersion contains an electrodeposition material including a fine particle coloring material, and a polymer which is chemically dissolved, or is deposited and precipitated, by a change in pH. The electrodeposition material is deposited and precipitated by changing the pH value of the aqueous dispersion in the vicinity of the image supporting surface of the image supporting member. The polymer in the electrodeposition material has both hydrophobic groups and hydrophilic groups, the proportion of number of the hydrophobic groups to the total number of hydrophilic groups and the hydrophobic groups in the polymer is in the range of from 40 to 80%, 50% or more of the hydrophilic groups can reversibly change from hydrophilic groups to hydrophobic groups due to a change in pH value.

    • An image is formed by a process comprising the steps of: preparing a substrate comprising a transparent substrate having formed thereon a transparent electroconductive film and a semiconductor thin film in this order; preparing in a vessel, which can hold an liquid, an aqueous liquid containing a coloring material and an electrodepositable material capable of chemically dissolving or sedimanting/precipitating depending on the change in the pH; connecting a device than can supply an electric current or an electric field in accordance with an image pattern to the transparent electroconductive film of the substrate; fixing the substrate so that the semiconductor thin film is immersed in the aqueous liquid; disposing a counter electrode as another member of an electrode pair in the vessel; disposing a prescribed photomask on the transparent substrate of the substrate; and carrying out light irradiation at the transparent substrate through the photomask so that an electrodeposited film containing the electrodepositable material is formed selectively on portions where electromotive force is generated by the light irradiation.

    • A thermal electrostatic ink-jet recording apparatus includes an orifice for storing and jetting ink. The orifice is formed between first and second plate members and a longitudinal array of heating elements is formed on one of the plate members and is covered by an insulating layer. An electrically conductive layer is formed either on the insulating layer or the other plate member and cooperates with a counter electrode supporting a recording medium to apply an electrostatic field to ink in the orifice. The electrically conductive layer includes a central portion that extends substantially to the egress of the orifice in the area where ink is contained in the orifice and peripheral portions on either side of the orifice that are not in contact with the ink and that are spaced substantially away from the egress of the orifice. The spacing of the peripheral portion away from the egress of the orifice prevents a gas discharge phenomenon that induces instability in ink jetting.
