摘要： Methods, systems, devices and tools for placing bone stabilization components in a patient are provided. The systems and devices have a reduced number of discrete components that allow placement through small incisions and tubes. More particularly, the present invention is directed to screws for use in systems and methods of treating the spine, which eliminate pain and enable spinal motion, which effectively mimics that of a normally functioning spine. Methods are also provided for installation of the screw and other subject systems.

In certain exemplary embodiments, a nerve regeneration system may include a lead configured to be placed in a body proximate a damaged nerve, a portion of the lead being configured to stimulate the damaged nerve. The system may also include a control module configured to monitor a signal indicative of the nerve's response to the stimulation and adjust a parameter of the stimulation in response to the monitored signal.

Performance of an exercise regimen by the patients both in the presence and absence of supplemental oxygen is measured. Those patients whose performance improves in the presence of supplemental oxygen are considered likely candidates for benefitting from arteriovenous therapy.

摘要： Transluminal methods and apparatus for causing arterial blood to flow through a vein of a mammalian patient, in a direction opposite normal venous blood flow, after an arterial blood containing conduit has been purposely or inadvertently connected to the vein. The method includes the use of a transluminally inserted vessel lumen occluding apparatus to at least partially block (e.g., occlude, embolize or close) the lumen of the vein at a location that is proximal to the location at which the arterial blood containing conduit is connected to the vein. The apparatus comprises a radially expandable lumen blocking device that is implantable in the vein lumen and catheters and other apparatus for implanting the radially expandable lumen blocking device into the lumen of the vein.

Methods of utilizing the fluid delivery device to infuse fluid medications are additionally disclosed.

The device includes an exit port assembly, a syringe-like reservoir including a side wall extending along a longitudinal axis towards an outlet connected to the exit port assembly, and a plunger assembly received in the reservoir. The plunger assembly includes a two-way shape memory element connecting first and second lateral segments, and having a changeable length decreasing from an uncharged length to a charged length when at least one charge is applied to the shape memory element. Successively applying a charge and removing the charge from the two-way shape memory element causes longitudinal movement of the plunger assembly towards the outlet of the reservoir in order to cause fluid to be dispensed from the reservoir to the exit port assembly.
