A threaded adjusting member (104) located on the workpiece contact element (22) and a threadable adjustable mechanism (24) on the nosepiece (26) are configured engaged with each other, such that movement of the workpiece contact element (22) due to rotation of the threadable adjustable mechanism (108) causes the first alignment mechanism (102) to engage the second alignment structure (108). The tool (10) has a sensor (64) held by the housing (14) and a detector (50) within the fastener supply (36) configured to sense the length of the fasteners (20) and communicate the length to the sensor (64). A tool (10) for driving fasteners (20) into a workpiece (30) includes a fastener supply device (36) removably attachable to the tool (10) and supplying the fasteners (20) to the channel (34), and a workpiece contact element (22). There is a first alignment mechanism (102) on the nosepiece (26) and a second alignment mechanism (108) on the workpiece contact element (22). A threaded adjusting member (104) located on the workpiece contact element (22) and a threadable adjustable mechanism (24) on the nosepiece (26) are configured engaged with each other, such that movement of the workpiece contact element (22) due to rotation of the threadable adjustable mechanism (108) causes the first alignment mechanism (102) to engage the second alignment structure (108).
