    • A data access system which includes the capability to categorize subsets of the data in the data store, query result or other source of data as aggregate data or as detail data and also the ability to explicitly re-categorize the aggregate data as detail data, e.g., as part of execution of one or more processes on the data, so that operations that apply to detail data also apply to the re-categorized aggregate data. Additionally, automatic processes are provided for re-categorizing aggregate data as detail data based on data usage context, i.e., based upon how data in the data store is to be manipulated, processed and/or presented according to queries, commands, etc. received by the data store. Calculation of aggregations on top of already pre-aggregated data is enabled, and merging of designated aggregate data with detail data provides increased flexibility in a final dataset.

    • A report definition is processed by a report processor to generate a report. The report definition includes a plurality of data regions arranged on a page, where the data regions as arranged on the page in the report definition extend in multiple dimensions selected from a group consisting of across the page, down page and layered on the page. The report processor has a data extension for accessing data for the report from a data source based on query information and data source information in the report definition. The report processor lays out the report in an intermediate format based on layout information in the report definition and the data accessed by the data extension. The report processor also has a rendering extension for rendering the report in a particular rendering format based on the intermediate format of the report.

    • End user sorting and filtering of data extracted for report processing can be performed. That is, data can be filtered or sorted subsequent to the execution of underlying queries performed to extract data from a data source. A user can sort or filter data by selecting a set of data values using a filter or sort control attached to a header or to a data field. The scope of effect of the filter or sort within the report may be specified. That is, a specified filter or sort may act locally or may apply globally. Filtering or sorting may apply to other regions of data linked to the filtered or sorted data region according to the specified scope of the filter. A filter or sort may apply to each row of data in the data set, to each row of data in the data region, to each instance of a group or to one or more sets of data.

    • A method (10) and system (50) for using a biometrically enabled password can include an input device (58) capable of entering a password entry and a processor (56) coupled to the input device. The processor can monitor (16 or 26) a cadence such as monitoring a keystroke signature, store the cadence of the password entry, compare (28) the cadence of a subsequent password entry with the cadence of at least one previous password entry, establish (30) a stability metric with respect to the cadences compared, and require (32) both the password entry and the cadence once the cadence meets the stability metric. The processor can require only the password entry until the stability metric for the cadence is achieved. The processor can also determine (14) if the password entry is new and optionally require (18) only the password entry to enter the system if determined as new.

    • The present invention can include a method for tuning grammar option weights of a phrase-based, automatic speech recognition (ASR) grammar, where the grammar option weights affect which entries within the grammar are matched to spoken utterances. The tuning can occur in an unsupervised fashion, meaning no special training session or manual transcription of data from an ASR session is needed. The method can include the step of selecting a phrase-based grammar to use in a communication session with a user wherein different phrase-based grammars can be selected for different users. Feedback of ASR phrase processing operations can be recorded during the communication session. Each ASR phrase processing operation can match a spoken utterance against at least one entry within the selected phrase-based grammar. At least one of the grammar option weights can be automatically adjusted based upon the feedback to improve accuracy of the phrase-based grammar.
