摘要： A pendulum arrangement for a Tuned Mass Damper utilizes a pair of generally equal masses, the masses being arranged so that first surfaces thereof face each other and second surfaces thereof face away from each other. A hinge structure is affixed to the first surfaces of the masses so as to hingedly connect the two masses together. Spaced apart tension members are connected at one end thereof to a supporting frame and at the other end to the hinge structure. Each one of a pair of compression members is pivotally connected at one end thereof to an upper portion of an adjacent mass and pivotally rests on a lower support surface. The masses are supported by the tension and compression members for limited swinging movement thereof with a substantially lower period that could be achieved within the same space with a conventional pendulum.

摘要： A replaceable flow assembly for use in a water cooler or similar bottled liquid dispenser includes a liquid reservoir (7) and a manifold (48) incorporating a bottle connector (5, 49) for releasable sealing engagement with a neck formed on an inverted bottle. The manifold is mounted on the reservoir and incorporates a first pathway for conducting liquid from a feed tube (5) to the reservoir (7), and a second pathway for conducting liquid from the reservoir to a discharge outlet (53). A third pathway within the manifold conducts atmospheric air through an air filter (28) and into the interior of the bottle through the feed tube (5) without passing through the reservoir (7). The manifold preferably also incorporates a dispense valve between the reservoir (7) and the discharge outlet (53) (e.g. in arm 52), which co-operates with a fixed valve-operating member within the dispenser.

The system also includes a positioning system for generating the present position information of the vehicle. The information includes latitude and longitude data points. Additionally, the system includes a fuel monitoring device in the fuel reservoir, whereby the fuel monitoring means generates information including the present level of fuel in the fuel reservoir. Also, a data collection device for collecting the present position information and the present level of fuel information. Finally, the system includes a processor located at a remote site from the vehicle, the processor receives data from the collecting device The processor determines when the vehicle crosses a jurisdiction border and computes the fuel consumption in the jurisdiction, the fuel consumption data can then be later used to compute the fuel tax.
