    • PURPOSE:To easily and securely clean a heat roll in fixation and to improve the reliability and operation rate by providing a roll cleaner for cleaning the heat roll, and moving a scraper and securing an operation space when the heat roll needs not be cleaned. CONSTITUTION:A toner image 2 is fixed by heat pressing at the contact point A between the heat roll 3 and a pressure roll 4. At this time, oil is sprayed on the surface of the heat roll from a nozzle 6 and a web 7 is pressed. At the same time, the scraper 12 of the roll cleaner 1 is pressed against the heat roll 3 to scrape offset toner sticking on the roll surface and oil is fed from felt 17 in a receiving pan 18 to clean the roll 3 completely. When the cleaning is not necessary or when the scraper is replaced, the web 7 and scraper 12 are separated from the roll 3 and the scraper is easily replaced. Therefore, the cleaning is performed securely and the reliability and operation rate are improved.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent fixing defect caused by the wrinkle of a sheet during passing through between a heating roll and a back roll when printing starts, by sucking and adhering the sheet to a preheating plate with the aid of a blower connected to sucking slots provided on the preheating plate while printing is performed and stopping sucking the sheet to the preheating plate while no printing is performed. CONSTITUTION:Plural sucking slots 8 are provided on the surface of the preheating plate 7. It makes the sheet 20 adhere by sucking to negative pressure and heighten coefficient of thermal conductivity. Since the back roll 11 opens in the direction in which the path length of the sheet shortens such as dotted line while no printing is performed, shutting a valve stops the suction of the sucking slots 8. Then a scantly gap is created between the sheet 20 and the preheating plate 7 and lowering of coefficient of thermal conductivity prevents unnecessary temperature rising of the sheet. Thus, sheet distortion caused by extreme thermal contraction does not occur and the wrinkle of a sheet at a fixing roll does not occur when printing starts.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of thickening of ink occurring at a nozzle tip caused by evaporation of moisture in ink in an ink jet recorder. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder is provided with a pressure generating chamber which communicates with a nozzle opening and a reservoir and an ink jet recording head which ejects ink drops from the nozzle opening by expanding and contracting the pressure generating chamber with a piezoelectric vibrator. The ink jet recorder has a first expansion step pulse for expanding the pressure generating chamber, a first contracting step pulse for contracting the pressure chamber to eject ink drops from the nozzle opening, a drive pulse generating means for making the piezoelectric vibrator perform a second expansion step pulse for expanding the pressure generating chamber again after the first contracting step, a printing control means capable of administrating a past printing condition of each nozzle, a drive pulse selecting means for selecting/controlling the applied voltage of the first contracting step pulse according to the print data from the printing control means, and a drive nozzle selecting means for distributing the selected drive pulse to each nozzle.
