    • PURPOSE:To unnecessitate a flux and prevent the generation of voids and corrosion on a bonding surface by irradiating the bonding surface of articles to be bonded with particle beams and charging an inert gas into a vacuum bonding device to heighten the pressure of the atmosphere, thereby bonding the surfaces of the articles to each other. CONSTITUTION:An insert member 52 is placed on the bonding surface of a ceramic member 51 in a bonding device, which is evacuated to a prescribed vacuum degree. A pair of atom sauces 6 are operated and Ar gas is charged into the bonding device through the atom sauces 6. The bonding surface of a Si member 50 is irradiated with Ar atom beams from one sauce 6 and the insert plate 52 on the ceramic member 51 is irradiated with the Ar atom beams from another sauce to clean the surfaces, respectively. After the irradiation the Si member 50 is transferred to the ceramic member 51 and subsequently pressed and bonded to each other. The Si member integrated with the insert member 52 is lifted and the lower surface of the insert member 52 and the bonding surface of the ceramic member 51 are irradiated with the Ar atom beams. Ar gas is charged into the device through the sauces 6 to the atmosphere. The insert member 52-attached Si member 51 and the ceramic member are pressed and bonded to each other.
