    • A motor includes a rotor including a permanent magnet type rotor unit having a plurality of permanent magnets and a reluctance type rotor unit having a plurality of salient pole portions, the rotor units being coupled to each other in an axial direction. A stator generates a field for driving the rotor. The permanent magnet type rotor unit and the reluctance type rotor unit have an angular deviation therebetween in the direction of rotation to obtain desired torque characteristics. The reluctance type rotor unit has slits for preventing flux leakage from the permanent magnets. The slits are formed with the angular deviation in the direction of rotation from respective positions symmetric about a center of the salient pole portions. Flux leakage is thus prevented to avoid deterioration in characteristics.

    • In a method and an apparatus for controlling a motor, one type or a plurality of types of weakening current are previously set, a first torque command current determined from a speed deviation between a speed command to the motor and the present speed of the motor is compared with torque currents corresponding the torques, so that a second torque command current and a weakening current are determined and outputted depending on which range of the torque currents corresponding the torques the first torque command current falls upon. Thus, the second torque command current and the weakening current can be determined simply and efficiently. According to another method and apparatus, the weakening current and the torque current are determined while the weakening factor is varied as appropriate, on the conditions that the sum of voltage vectors of sections of the motor falls within a restrictive circle that depends on the applied voltage to the motor and that the torque current should be equal to a value resulting from multiplying the torque command current determined from the speed deviation with the weakening factor. Then, the motor can produce the maximum torque with less weakening current, thus being capable of maximum efficiency control.

    • In a controlling apparatus of a motor, an address generating device generates digital address signals corresponding to a position of a rotor of the motor on the basis of the Z-phase, A-phase, and B-phase signals outputted from an encoder installed in the motor. A sine wave data for driving the motor is readout based on the digital address signal from a waveform memory device to drive the motor in accordance with the sine wave data by a PWM inverter. An abnormality detecting circuit detects agreement/disagreement of a timing level of an output signal of the waveform memory device which is binarized with using zero as a threshold and shifted a predetermined amount from a leading edge or trailing edge thereof and a level of the CS signal. A motor stopping device stops the motor in response to a disagreement detecting signal of the abnormality detecting circuit.

    • This invention provides a driving method for a three-phase stepping motor used in various types of electrical equipment, which driving method reduces vibration peculiar to a stepping motor and can drive the stepping motor smoothly. Specifically, the driving method comprises alternating two-phase conduction of conducting a current from a first terminal to a second terminal of coils having three terminals of a three-phase stepping motor internally connected by a Y-connection with three-phase conduction of conducting the first terminal to the second terminal and from a third terminal to the second terminal simultaneously, to energize the coils sequentially according to a specified sequence, thereby making the motor rotate in units of 1/2 of the basic step angle with low vibration.
