    • A combined toroid/shunt device for detecting residual current in an electrical installation comprising a plurality of conductors such as a live conductor (2) and a neutral conductor (3) is described. The device comprises a toroid means (1, 4) for detecting an AC residual current within a first range and a plurality of resistive shunts (6a) to (6d) for connection in respective ones of the plurality of conductors. A current detection means (5, 7, 13) responsive to current flowing in each of said shunts for detecting a DC residual current and/or an AC residual current within a second range is described. The first range of AC residual current is an AC residual current resulting from earth leakage or cross-leakage between conductors up to a saturation level at which the toroid or electronic means associated means therewith becomes saturated. The second range includes an AC residual current of said saturation level.

    • In modern coal burning power stations around 20 % of the coal burned ends up as residual effluent known generally as flyash and bottom ash. Most if not all of these residuals of up to 1,000,000 tonnes per year per power station are currently being dumped in huge ash ponds around the world, from where they cause very serious air and water pollution problems. The environmental protection authorities around the world have been aware of this immense environmental problem but have tolerated it because there has been no practical alternative. This innovation shows how the existing ash handling part of the power station can be improved to extract very valuable particles for sale inside the power station, by first keeping light weight air polluting flyash separate rather than combining the light weight flyash with the main flyash, secondly dry magnetically treating the main flyash to remove the water polluting trace elements and finally utilising the aeration between as well as within the particles of the residual non magnetic portion of the main flyash by conditioning it with a bonding agent to form aerated concrete.

    • In one embodiment, search results are generated in a computer network by detecting an end-user interaction with a document (710), generating a keyword based on the end-user interaction with the document, and performing a search using the keyword. The computer network may include the Internet and the document may be a web page. For example, a program (200A) running on a client computer may monitor the end-user's browsing activities on the Internet. When the end-user clicks on a link (711-1), information associated with the link, such as the link's label, may be parsed to generate one or more keywords. The keywords may be used to perform a search to generate search results responsive to the keywords.
