摘要： A mechanism is provided for generating event notifications for offline characters from within a persistent world online game. A player agent for an offline player includes an event monitor that monitors for events that occur in a persistent virtual world maintained by a game server. When a game event occurs that triggers an offline player rule, the player agent composes an event notification message and sends the message to the offline player. Event notification messages may include images, voice (text-to-speech), sound, or video. Offline players may receive event notifications at various messaging clients, such as personal computers and wireless telephones. A notification server may transmit the event notifications via existing communications channels, such as electronic mail, facsimile, instant messaging, text messaging, and voice communications.

摘要： Under the present invention, it is determined whether sufficient resources exist for deploying a platform dependent application on its specific "native" platform in a grid environment. If not, a platform dependent portion of the application is identified, and the application is split into the platform dependent portion and a platform independent portion. Thereafter, the platform dependent portion is deployed on its corresponding native platform, while the platform independent portion is deployed on another platform in the grid environment based on available resources. Interconnections between the two portions can then be automatically generated. This can include, for example, creating remote method invocation facade interfaces, creating remote method invocation-enabled facade classes, and building a remote method invocation server for the first platform.

摘要： An application server administration framework (ASAF) minimizes the number of manual steps during the installation or modification processes by allowing a user to accomplish the installation or modification by entering values in a property file. A deployment script is invoked that identifies changes in the property files, and invokes appropriate procedures from a procedure script. The procedure script links the property file to one or more component scripts so that the values entered by the administrator are populated to the appropriate component scripts. When the values have been populated to the appropriate component scripts, the deployment script invokes the scripting engine which runs the scripts to make the necessary changes to the configuration files for the application server.

摘要： A method and system for testing a software application. A description of a test suite for testing the software application being tested (ABT) is inserted into a test database. The ABT is invokes multiple external software applications during execution of a test script of the test suite. Each external application invoked by the ABT is replaced by a corresponding simulator during execution of the test script. Output data to be returned to the ABT by each invoked simulator is inserted into the test database, after which each test script of the test suite is executed. The executing includes: sending a request, by the ABT to each simulator invoked in each test script, for requested data; and receiving, by the ABT, the requested data from each simulator invoked in each test script. The received requested data includes the output data that had been inserted into the test database.
