    • The present invention relates to a method to enhance the health-promoting capacity of a plant by increasing expression of a regulatory gene product, preferably wherein said regulatory gene product is a receptor kinase, more preferably a RKS receptor or a mutein thereof or a chimeric RKS receptor. Such a method comprises providing a plant with a nucleotide sequence encoding said RKS receptor, but alternatively also a sequence encoding a truncated RKS protein can be used. Said RKS gene can be chosen from the group consisting of RKS subgroup I (RKS1, RKS4, RKS5, RKS7, RKSIl, and RKS 14), more specifically RKS4 and truncated RKS4 and chimeric receptors comprising the extracellular domain of RKS 4.
