    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leaf seal which effects a seal between two coaxial and relatively rotating components.SOLUTION: A leaf seal has an annular pack of stacked leaves or a plurality of axially arranged annular packs of stacked leaves. The pack or each of the packs is mountable on one of components in a state that its leaves 132 extends toward the other component such that the leaf edges of the leaf pack are brought into sliding contact with the other component. The leaf seal further has upstream and downstream cover plates 135, 135' at respective axial ends of the seal. Each cover plate is spaced from the adjacent annular leaf pack by a respective axial gap. When viewed in the axial direction, each cover plate covers at least a portion of the radial extent of the adjacent leaf pack. The upstream and/or downstream cover plate is flexible to axially deflect under differential pressures which the seal receives in operation.
