    • A catalytic oxidation system and method for the treatment of volatile organic compounds in which VOC-containing gas is preheated in a heat exchanger for raising its temperature before oxidation in a catalytic oxidizer without use of a burner. A reduced portion of the VOC-containing gas is diverted into an internal combustion engine with the exhaust mixed with the preheated VOC-containing gas to further raise the temperature of the mixed gas to a required reaction temperature for oxidation of the VOC-containing gas in the catalyst bed of the catalytic oxidizer. Heat from the catalytic reaction is recovered to assist preheating the VOC-containing gas in the heat exchanger.

    • An apparatus for processing an organohalogen compounds includes a catalyst container containing a catalyst layer, a supplying path for supplying a carrier gas containing organohalogen compounds and steam through the catalyst container, a cooling chamber arranged at a lower portion of the catalyst container, a spraying apparatus mounted in the cooling chamber for spraying a cooling liquid to cool exhaust gas containing a decomposed gas of the organohalogen compounds exhausted from the catalyst layer and a baffle member forming a bent path which introduces the exhaust gas containing the decomposed gas into the cooling chamber from the catalyst layer and mounted in the cooling chamber for preventing mists generated by spraying cooling liquid from the spraying apparatus from back flowing into the catalyst container.

    • An FCC feed injection arrangement injects feed transversely from the sides of a restricted opening into a stream of FCC catalyst to provide good feed and catalyst contacting in an arrangement that simplifies external pipe configurations and maintenance of the feed injection system. The invention forms a venturi or restricted opening by forming a generally square opening between two parallel extended chords on opposite sides of the riser. A venturi area may be built out of refractory lining or other abrasion-resistant structures. The invention may use horizontally extended pipes that are tangentially positioned apart from each other across from the restricted opening to provide a simple construction for the feed injection arrangement. The pipes are easily inserted and withdrawn from the riser to permit easy maintenance of the nozzles in the highly erosive environment. Insertable pipe distributors for distributing feed may be arranged to provide good overall distribution while also providing cooling to the outer surface of the distribution conduit to prevent coking. The distribution conduit may also be arranged to provide mixing of oil and steam near the injection point of the nozzles.
