The apparatus may be pointed with an automated pan-and-tilt. It may be targeted by a camera or similar sensor. It can turn its power levels up or down, or off, in response to the data from the sensor. The precision with which the source can be aimed leads to a higher proportion of photons hitting the target than with current heaters. This heater also maintains the power density of the photons impinging on the target or anything else within safety limits.

摘要： An infrared radiant panel heater utilizing a liquid-tight enclosure with at least one surface emissive of infrared energy by liquid inside the enclosure. A pair of polymeric electrodes having the property of positive temperature cut off are submerged in the liquid inside the enclosure, near the bottom thereof. Liquid is heated by electrical current flowing through the liquid between the electrodes. Convective flow of liquid distributes heated liquid throughout the enclosure. The cutoff temperature can be selected by electrolyte concentration in the liquid (usually water and sodium chloride) and the properties of the electrodes. In some embodiments a reversed face of the enclosure is reflective, so that most of the infrared energy is directed into the room rather than against a wall.

The heat energy penetrates into the food and does not merely heat the surface. Different heating capabilities can be provided by locating the lamp head at different positions over a large adjustable height range. Each heat lamp on a service line may be connected to an adjacent heat lamp through built-in power receptacles. The surfaces of the heat lamp are sealed and/or made of easily cleaned substances and have features compliant to one or more industry standards. The heat lamp may be easily transportable and may be resistant to damage.
