摘要： Methods for providing surface coverings with differential gloss, and surface coverings prepared by the method, are disclosed. The methods involve screen printing or rotogravure printing a relatively low gloss primer onto portions of a substrate surface covering. The primer-coated substrate is then coated with a relatively higher gloss coating composition, and the coating compositions are cured, advantageously in a single curing step. The result is a surface covering including a top coat having a lower gloss level overlying the primer and a higher gloss level in the regions not overlying the primer.

摘要： A process for the production of padding layers having a high degree of thermal insulation, and particularly suitable for use in clothing and furnishing, comprises the steps of producing, by means of carding machines, a layer or web comprising a mixture of polyester fibres with silicone treated fibers of the same or different nature. This layer or web is then resin coated on one side with a mixture of sticky plastic adhesives which, when polymerized, form a very soft and elastic film; on the other side of the same layer a non-sticky adhesive is sprayed or otherwise applied and the thus treated web is then subjected to a calendering operation at a temperature varying between predetermined limits. Subsequently, a layer of metal particles embedded in synthetic resins is applied to one or both sides of the said layer in such a way as to form a thermal barrier operable to reduce the transmission of heat by radiation and convection through the layer itself.

摘要： An electrically conductive polymer composition containing a nonconjugated polymer and a salt is prepared by admixing a sol or gel composition containing the salt with a polymer. A novel sol or gel composition containing a nonionic surfactant stabilizer is useful for preparing the electrically conductive composition. An intermediate mixture of salt, stabilizer and solvent are heated to prepare a sol or gel which is typically admixed with a latex to produce a product admixture containing the salt and a latex polymer. The product admixture is dried to produce a resultant salt latex polymer composition having electrically conductive properties useful, as for example, as an antistatic textile (carpet) coating. Gloss, tannin block and corrosion-inhibiting properties in surface coating compositions are increased by admixing the salt-containing sol or gel with a polymer and a surface coating past stock.
