    • A marine jet drive, for a boat having a transom and a drive shaft extending through the transom, the boat afloat in a water body, includes a support casing disposed aft of the transom and a pump shaft within the support casing, the pump shaft having an end connectable to the drive shaft. The jet drive includes a jet pump having a chamber and a blade coupled to a portion of the pump shaft extending into the chamber. The chamber is attached to and supported by the support casing aft of the support casing. The chamber has an inlet for receiving water into the chamber and an outlet. The blade is coupled to the portion of the pump shaft for co acting with the chamber to draw water into the chamber inlet and discharge water in a reactive jet out the chamber outlet to reactively propel the boat.

    • An electric propulsion system includes a first tube fixedly secured to a hull of a boat and having an upper end adjacent an opening in a surface of the boat and a lower end adjacent an opening in the hull. A second tube is concentrically disposed in the first tube and is withdrawable from the first tube via the upper end. An electric drive motor is disposed within the second tube and is longitudinally movable therein between upper and lower positions. The drive motor has a rotatable output shaft coupled with a propulsion unit that is longitudinally movable with the drive motor between extended and retracted positions. When the drive motor is in the upper position, the propulsion unit is in a retracted position within the second tube. When the drive motor is in the lower position, the propulsion unit is disposed externally of the hull and the lower end of the first tube. The propulsion unit includes a blade assembly rotatably driven by the drive motor to provide propulsion.

    • A number of embodiments of watercraft having jet propulsion units contained within a tunnel in the hull and wherein the jet propulsion unit is pivotal about a first transversely extending horizontal pivot axis for bringing the jet propulsion unit through trim adjusted positions to an upward out of the water position. In addition, the jet propulsion unit is rotatable about a horizontal longitudinally extending axis so that its downwardly facing water inlet portion may be rotated upwardly for access through an access opening in the hull for servicing. In one embodiment, the jet propulsion unit is only rotatable about the horizontal longitudinally extending axis. A number of embodiments of rudder assemblies are also depicted supported by the steering nozzle for generating steering effects when the steering nozzle is not generating a significant steering effect and which may be pivoted to an out of the water position for protection when underwater obstacles are struck.
