The device can be used to develop seated balance that is beneficial for horseback riding, kayaking, and other sports where seated balance is required. Embodiments include a seated balancing device that includes a seat borne by a universal joint, the universal joint being borne by a support member. The universal joint provides a pivot point, and a seating surface resides within 7 inches of the pivot point. The universal joint enables the seat to have at least two rotational degrees of freedom, which permits the seat to tilt in multiple directions.

摘要： Disclosed is a balance training apparatus for applying an exercise load to a subject, which comprises a seat adapted to allow the subject to sit thereon, a rocking mechanism for rockingly moving the seat, and a phase changer. The rocking mechanism includes a plurality of converters adapted to receive a driving force transmitted from a common driving source so as to operate in an interlocked relationship with each other, and convert the driving force from the driving source to a rocking motion having movement directions intersecting with each other. The phase changer is adapted to selectively connect and disconnect the transmission of the driving force to first converter consisting of a part of the plurality of converter, so as to change a phase relationship in rocking motion between the first converter, and second converter consisting of the rest of the plurality of converter. The seat with a subject thereon can be mockingly moved in a variety of rocking patterns according to variously changed phase relations.

The system comprises a first unit for monitoring the activities. This unit is not in physical contact with the exerciser or the object, displaced by the exerciser. The first unit is capable to collect raw data defining the activities either in terms of distance or acceleration. The first unit transmits the collected raw data in a wireless fashion to a second unit, which receives the transmitted raw data, processes it and calculates various parameters, defining the said physical activities, and represents the calculated parameters in a form recognizable by the exerciser. The system enables tracking, recording and updating the relevant information, provides improved feedback and thus helps to the exercising individual to improve his performances.

The movement signals may be translated into the haptic instructions for physical movements of any limb or extremity of the user in either of a vertical direction or a horizontal direction; after the first movement signal, the movement signals may be transmitted prior to completion of an immediately previous physical movement; and the movement signals may include horizontal and vertical directional signal components that indicate the horizontal and vertical direction for the user's next physical movement. The haptic instructions that are translated from the horizontal and vertical directional signal components may differ in either duration or magnitude.
