摘要： A honeycomb structure includes: porous partition walls having a large number of pores and disposed to form a plurality of cells communicating between two end faces, and plugged portions disposed to plug each of the cells on one of the end faces. A percentage of the number of carbon particulates contained in combustion exhaust gas satisfying the following condition (1) and passing through a honeycomb structure is 80% or more at a space velocity of 25000/h. The condition (1) is that the carbon particulates has a mean diameter of 0.07 to 0.2 μm, a ratio of the carbon particulates having a diameter of 1 μm or more is 0.1% or less in number and that a concentration of the carbon particulates is 10 mg/m3. The honeycomb structure is excellent in purification efficiency, has low pressure loss, and is mountable even in a limited space.

摘要： There is provided a honeycomb filter wherein particles having an average particle diameter smaller than the average pore diameter of partition walls are deposited at least in open pores formed in the surface layer of the partition wall and in the pores of the partition wall in a surface layer portion of the partition walls on the exhaust gas inflow side, thereby forming a composite region. The average pore diameter of the partition walls is 5 to 40 μm, and the porosity of the partition wall is 35 to 75%. The particles to be deposited have an average particle diameter of 1 to 15 μm, and the height of the composite region is not more than 80 μm in the direction from the outermost contour line of the partition walls to the surface of the partition walls.

The surface layer has a peak pore diameter of from 0.3 μm to 20 μm (exclusive) being equal to or smaller than the average pore diameter of the base material; the porosity of from 60% to 95% (exclusive) when measured by mercury porosimetry being larger than that of the base material; and the thickness L1 of from 0.5% to 30% (exclusive) of the partition wall thickness L2; and mass per filtration area of from 0.01 mg/cm2 to 6 mg/cm2 (exclusive). The base material has an average pore diameter of from 10 μm to 60 μm (exclusive) and a porosity of from 40% to 65% (exclusive).

摘要： A honeycomb filter includes a cell having one open end and another closed end that serves as a fluid flow path and a cell having one closed end and another open end, wherein the cells are alternately disposed. The honeycomb filter includes an undeposited region in an upstream region of a partition portion, which has no trapping layer and has a length of 5% or more and 30% or less of the length of the inlet cell. The upstream region of the partition portion includes an undeposited region having an area of 10% or more of that of the cell in a cross-section perpendicular to the exhaust gas flow direction. The undeposited region with no trapping layer in the upstream region decreases the permeation resistance of the partition portion in the upstream region and facilitates fluid passage through the partition portion in the upstream region.
