    • PURPOSE:To automatically detect the flaw part on an article to be inspected, by differentiating the level signal obtained by picking up the image of a surface to be inspected by an image pickup means to form a level change degree signal and comparing said change degree signal with a predetermined reference value. CONSTITUTION:The image of the light and shade stripe pattern projected on a surface to be inspected by a light and shade pattern projecting means M1 is picked up as a light intensity level signal by an image pickup mean M2 and the light intensity level signal of the picked-up image is differentiated by a change degree detection means M3 to form a level change degree signal. When a flaw part such as unevenness is present on the surface to be inspected, the level of the flaw part is detected as an intermediate level signal not belonging to both of the high level of a light part and the low level of a shade part by said flaw part and the change degree signal obtained by differentiating the flaw part is detected as a signal not having the boundary part of the high level of the light part and the low level of the shade part. Then, by comparing the change degree signal with a predetermined reference value using a flaw part extraction means 4, the irregular part of the change degree signal can be extracted as the flaw part of the surface to be inspected.

    • PURPOSE:To realize the unmanned surface inspection of a body by using industrial equipment such as a robot by detecting a defect part such as an irregularity on the body to be inspected as an end point where the boundary line from a dark part to a light part of a pattern, etc., is broken. CONSTITUTION:A dot image projected in a stripe pattern on the surface of the body OB to be inspected by a stripe pattern projecting device 1 is picked up by a TV camera 2, which outputs a video signal. Then the video signal is converted by a binarization circuit 2 into a binary signal and a boundary line detecting circuit 4 detects the boundary line from the dark part to the light part of the stripe pattern based on the output of the circuit 3. Then, the end point where the boundary line is broken is detected by an end point detecting circuit 5 and a decision circuit 6 decides whether or not there is a defect part such as an irregularity on the surface of the body OB to be inspected on the basis of the detection output.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain highly reliable results of inspection with a higher speed and automation, by judging the area of a defect as calculated from an irregular part signal contained in an image signal of a density pattern formed on a surface to be inspected outputted by photographing. CONSTITUTION:A virtual image projected on an object OB to be inspected with a stripe pattern projector 1 is converted into a video signal with a TV camera 30 and outputted to a halftone part detection circuit 51 of a pal signal output device 5 to be separated into a video signal VD2 and a synchronous signal SS. The signal VD2 is inverted with an inverter 52 and is ANDed by an AND circuit 71 of an irregular part signal detector 7 with a signal inverted with an inverter 54 via a monostable multivibrator 53 to obtain a signal leaving a high level due to a halftone part 'bad' caused by a surface defect and the signal is inverted with an inverter 72 to be inputted into a mixer 73. The signal SS is also inputted into a mixer 73 to be outputted to a display DP2 for displaying while it is outputted to a defect extraction circuit 91 of a decision device 9 to judge the area of the halftone part 'bad' shown on the display DP2 and the part is determined to be a defect when the area exceeds a specified value.

    • PURPOSE:To automate defect inspection by detecting the irregular part of a light and dark pattern projected on a surface to be inspected and comparing the area of the irregular part with specific area. CONSTITUTION:The stripe pattern with specific pitch is projected on the surface of a body OB to be inspected by a flat plate 10 which has many slits and a light source 11 and the stripe pattern is picked up by a TV camera 30. Then the video signal of the video signal of the camera 30 is supplied to an irregularity detector 3 to discriminate between the light and dark pattern and irregular part bad, and the size of the irregular part bad is digitized. Then, the defect part extracting circuit 51 of a decision device 5 counts picture elements displaying the irregular part bad by a pattern recognizing method to find the area of the irregular part bad. Then, the device 5 detects a defect part such as unevenness on the surface of the body OB to be inspected as the irregular part bad automatically. Thus, the size of the defect part on the body OB is digitized and compared with a quantitative value to decide the defect part, so the high-reliability inspection result is obtained.
