摘要： There is provided an exhaust emission control apparatus for an internal combustion engine, which comprises a cylinder suspend operation control section that provides control to suspend combustion of suspended cylinders selected from among a plurality of cylinders according to an operating state of the internal combustion engine, a first exhaust passage connected to the suspended cylinders, a second exhaust passage connected to operating cylinders other than the suspended cylinders, a second exhaust purifying catalyst disposed in the second exhaust passage, and a first exhaust purifying catalyst disposed in the first exhaust passage and having a higher capability to purify exhaust gas than the second exhaust purifying catalyst. It is therefore possible to prevent deterioration of exhaust gas even in the case where cylinders are partially suspended.

摘要： In a direct injection type engine, capable of switching an injection mode between a compression stroke injection mode for injecting fuel mainly during a compression stroke and an intake stroke injection mode for injecting fuel mainly during an intake stroke; a fuel injection starting timing in the intake stroke is corrected to a retard side as the temperature relating to an internal combustion engine, detected as a parameter representing the tendency of fuel to adhere to the inside of the internal combustion engine, becomes lower. If a required fuel injection volume cannot be injected during the intake stroke injection mode in the corrected fuel injection timing, a timing for injecting remaining fuel to satisfy the required fuel injection volume during a compression stroke following the intake stroke in one combustion cycle is determined. The injection of the fuel is controlled according to the corrected fuel injection timing.

摘要： An intake system construction according to the present invention for an internal combustion engine is provided with a combustion chamber formed with upper and lower extremities thereof defined by a cylinder head and a piston, an intake open end arranged for being opened or closed by an intake valve, an exhaust open end arranged for being opened or closed by an exhaust valve, an intake port formed extending upwardly from the intake open end so that a vertical swirl of inducted air is formed in the combustion chamber, and an exhaust port for discharging combustion gas from the combustion chamber. The intake port is formed wider in one of halves thereof located adjacent a reference plane, which contains a central axis of a cylinder, than in the other half thereof located remote from the reference plane. The intake port is provided at a lower extremity thereof in the one half thereof with a raised portion for guiding an inducted air flow in the intake port toward an inner peripheral surface of a side wall of the cylinder.

摘要： In an idling speed control method for adjusting the amount of intake air supplied to an internal combustion engine so that the engine speed matches a target speed when the engine is idling, a value of a stroke period or speed of the engine is detected. Further, a target torque improvement rate Mi, indicative of excess or deficiency of an engine output torque caused by a response delay in an intake system of the engine, is predicted in accordance with the detected value of the stroke period. Also, in accordance with the predicted torque improvement rate Mi, an ignition timing is delayed or advanced and the fuel supply quantity is increased or decreased to make an air-fuel ratio rich or lean. This eliminates the excess or deficiency of the intake air supply due to the response delay in the intake system relative to fluctuations in idling speed, thereby permitting stable idling even at low speed.
