    • Disclosed is a paging control method in a telecommunications system where devices are paged by paging requests from base stations, the base stations being controlled by paging control messages from a network node. The method involves detecting (310), in the network node, a need to initiate paging of a device. Then, a set of candidate base stations in an area of the telecommunications system is determined (320) by the network node. The candidate base stations are potentially capable of reaching the device in the area by sending paging requests at respective paging occasions. The network node selectively controls (330) paging control messages intended for the set of candidate base stations depending on detection of a paging response made by the device via one of the base stations in the set of candidate base stations, so as to prevent paging requests from base stations, in the set of candidate base stations, which have not yet sent any paging requests to the device..

    • A communication system node transmits first control channel information on a control channel that extends over a first bandwidth of a radiofrequency resource. The first control channel information is necessary to enable a first type of communication device, capable of receiving a signal having the first bandwidth, to establish a connection with a host cell. A MIB, occupying a second bandwidth-size part of the first bandwidth, is transmitted. The second bandwidth is smaller than the first bandwidth and is receivable by a second type of communication device having reduced receive bandwidth capabilities. The MIB has a first part comprising first part information necessary to enable the first type of communication device to establish the connection with the host cell, and a second part comprising second part information directly or indirectly enabling the second type of communication device to obtain parameters that enable connection establishment with the host cell.

    • A method in a base station for selecting a set of transport format schemes for a cell is provided. The set of transport format schemes shall be used for a radio transmission from a communication device to the base station. The base station is serving the eel! comprising the communication device. The communication device is unsynchronized for transmission to the base station. The base station specifies (201) a plurality of sets of transport format schemes. Each set of transport format schemes is associated to a respective guard time, which guard time is a time margin required to compensate for the communication device being unsynchronized for transmission to the base station. After determining (203) a required guard time as the maximum timing advance value used in the cell the base station selects (204) one set of transport format schemes from the plurality of sets of transport format schemes to be available for the cell. The set is selected such that its associated guard time matches the determined required guard time in the cell.

    • Embodiments herein relate to a method in a radio base station (12) for providing radio coverage to a user equipment (10). The radio base station (12) comprises at least two radio antenna ports; a first antenna port (AP11) associated with a first physical antenna and a second antenna port (AP12) associated with a second physical antenna. The first antenna port (AP11) is arranged to provide a radio coverage over a first area (14) and the second antenna port (AP12) is arranged to provide a radio coverage over a second area (17). The radio base station (12) broadcasts a signal with system information over the first area (14) enabling the radio base station (12) to connect to the user equipment (10). The radio base station (12) also determines that a user equipment (10) in the first area (14) is to receive or transmit data. The radio base station (12) then obtains information related to a position of the user equipment (10) in the first area (14). The radio base station (12) then sets a characteristic of the second physical antenna based on the obtained information. Thereby to the radio base station provides radio coverage to the user equipment (10) via the second port (AP12).
