    • A map image display device, a map image display method and a map image display program are disclosed. Upon determination of a map image for an objective to be displayed in response to a user's command input, a standard surface area setting unit 21 divides a surface area of a whole area shown in the map image to be displayed into n equal divisions to assign resulting values to standard surface areas. Then, a particular designation selecting unit 16 selects n pieces of relevant particular designations of areas, whose surface areas are closer to the standard surface areas, among areas involved in the map image for the objective to be displayed. A display image preparing unit 17 prepares image data to cause the selected n pieces of the relevant particular designations to be displayed on the map image as icons, and a display control unit 18 controllably drives the display unit based on image data. This causes the map image, determined responsive to the user's command input, to be displayed over the display unit, while enabling the n pieces of the particular designations to be displayed on the map image as the icons in a superimposed manner.

    • A picture processing apparatus for picture-in-picture applications where the number of pixels n in the horizontal direction of an original picture, the number of pixels m in the vertical direction thereof, the number of pixels N in the horizontal direction of the converted picture, and the number of pixels M in the vertical direction thereof are supplied to a dividing device. Thus, ratios A=N/n and B=M/m are obtained. The inverse number 1/A of the value A is cumulated by circuits. An address generating circuit generates addresses at four points for calculating a density value a of a converted pixel corresponding to the integer part of a cumulated value &Sgr;(1/A). These addresses are supplied to memories. The pixel data at the four points that are read from the memories are supplied to respective multiplying devices. The decimal part of the value &Sgr;(1/A) is supplied as an interpolating coefficient p to a multiplying device. A coefficient (1−q) is supplied to a multiplying device. Likewise, in the vertical direction, coefficients q and (1−q) are supplied to respective multiplying devices. These multiplying devices and adding devices perform operations. Thus, the density value a of the converted pixel is obtained and supplied from a terminal.

    • A phase control apparatus which enables efficient execution of phase adjustment operations for two transmission signals so that a non-interruptive switchover function will work effectively. The proposed apparatus performs phase control to eliminate a phase difference between two reception signals which originate from a single source, but have been carried over two separate transmission lines. A delay memory unit, placed on each transmission line, delays each reception signal in accordance with a given delay time parameter. A comparison range setting unit defines a time range for phase comparison. Within the defined time range, a phase comparator compares the phases of two reception signals delayed by the delay memory units. If the phase comparison has resulted in an out-of-phase condition, a phase controller repetitively varies the delay time parameter being set in one of the delay memory units until an in-phase condition is reached.
