    • A computer performs following steps according to a program for tracking an object. Template matching of each frame of an input image to a plurality of template images is performed, a template image having a highest similarity with an image within a predetermined region of the input image is selected as a selected template among the plurality of template images and the predetermined region of the input image is extracted as a matched region. With reference to an image within the matched region thus extracted, by tracking motion between frames, motion of an object is tracked between the images of the plurality of frames. It is determined as to whether or not a result of template matching satisfies an update condition for updating the plurality of template images. In a case that the update condition is determined to be satisfied, at least one of the plurality of template images.

    • A subject tracking method, includes: calculating a similarity factor indicating a level of similarity between an image contained in a search frame at each search frame position and a template image by shifting the search frame within a search target area set in each of individual frames of input images input in time sequence; determining a position of the search frame for which a highest similarity factor value has been calculated, within each input image to be a position (subject position) at which a subject is present; tracking the subject position thus determined through the individual frames of input images; calculating a difference between a highest similarity factor value and a second highest similarity factor value; and setting the search target area for a next frame based upon the calculated difference.

    • A microcontroller is disposed on a receiving part of a wireless system in order to process a demodulation signal generated by a receiver circuit, and includes a memory and a CPU. The memory stores a control program of the microcontroller. The control program thereof includes a dual loop routine for an operation in reception standby mode. The dual loop routine has a first loop and a second loop included in the first loop. The CPU has an instruction set consisting of a plurality of instructions, and executes the instructions according to the program stored in the memory. The CPU executes an instruction irrelevant to an operation when the microcontroller is in reception mode during the second loop a number of times. The number of times is at least such that noise caused by the repetition of the second loop is lowered below a desired level.

    • An image matching device includes: a dividing unit that divides a target image, contained in a search window set within an input image constituted with pixels each having a luminance component and a chrominance component, and a template image constituted with pixels each having the luminance component and the chrominance component, each into a plurality of divided areas; a representative value calculation unit that calculates a luminance component representative value and a chrominance component representative value in correspondence to each of the divided areas; a normalizing unit that normalizes the luminance component representative value having been calculated in correspondence to each divided area; and a template matching processing unit that executes template matching processing based upon the normalized luminance component representative value and the chrominance component representative value corresponding to each of the divided areas in the template image, and upon the normalized luminance component representative value and the chrominance component representative value corresponding to each of the divided areas in the target image.
