    • A disk array apparatus of the invention improves the quality of Fiber Channel signals corresponding to mounting positions of disk drives. The disk array apparatus comprises first to fourth groups of a plurality of disk drives each of which stores data; a first data relay device for connecting a first group of a plurality of data transfer paths wired in a direction orthogonally intersecting the row direction and to be connected to the first group of a plurality of disk drives through a first loop-like data transfer path; a second data relay device for connecting a second group of a plurality of data transfer paths wired in a direction orthogonally intersecting the row direction and to be connected to the second group of a plurality of disk drives through a second loop-like data transfer path; a third data relay device for connecting a third group of a plurality of data transfer paths wired in a direction orthogonally intersecting the row direction and to be connected to the third group of a plurality of disk drives through a third loop-like data transfer path; and a fourth data relay device for connecting a fourth group of a plurality of data transfer paths wired in a direction orthogonally intersecting the row direction and to be connected to the fourth group of a plurality of disk drives through a fourth loop-like data transfer path. The first and third relay devices are interposed between the first and third groups of a plurality of disk drives. The second and fourth relay devices are interposed between the second and fourth groups of a plurality of disk drives.

    • A composition containing a poorly water soluble substance of the present invention is a composition having a median diameter of not more than 1 μm, comprising (i) a poorly water soluble substance and (ii) polyvinylpyrrolidone or a vinylpyrrolidone-vinyl acetate copolymer, and preferably, a composition having a median diameter of not more than 1 μm, comprising (i) a poorly water soluble substance, (ii) polyvinylpyrrolidone or a vinylpyrrolidone-vinyl acetate copolymer and (iii) an auxiliary dispersion stabilizer. By employing such constitution, a poorly water soluble substance is sufficiently micronized and a composition containing a poorly water soluble substance showing good absorbability of the poorly water soluble substance can be provided.A composition containing a poorly water soluble substance of the present invention can be prepared into a solid dosage form for oral administration in various forms such as tablet, powder, granule, capsule and the like. Therefore, using a composition containing a poorly water soluble substance of the present invention, for example, pharmaceutical preparations in various dosage forms showing good absorbability of a drug, which is a poorly water soluble substance, can be realized.

    • A switching fabric sets a congestion indicator bit (EFCI bit) in an ATM cell if any queue through which the ATM cell passes is filled above a lower threshold. A Traffic Manager monitors the field of the EFCI bit as cells arrive at an output port of the switching fabric. The traffic manager periodically calculates the ratio of ATM cells having the EFCI congestion bit set to all ATM cells routed to a particular output port. The periodically calculated ratio is used as an input parameter to a Random Early Detection (RED) algorithm. The RED algorithm selects a cell for the switch fabric to drop, by use of a random selection method. The destination computer then does not receive the packet since cells forming part of the packet have been discarded.
