    • Disclosed are a propylene polymer having a high crystallinity of a boiled heptane-insoluble component contained therein, a high stereoregularity and an extremely long mesochain (continuous propylene units wherein directions of &agr;-methyl carbons are the same as each other), and a process for preparing said polymer. Further disclosed is a propylene polymer composition comprising the above propylene polymer and at least one stabilizer selected from a phenol type stabilizer, an organophosphite type stabilizer, a thioether type stabilizer, a hindered amine type stabilizer and a metallic salt of higher aliphatic acid. The propylene polymer of the invention is excellent in rigidity, heat resistance and moisture resistance, and can be favorably used for sheet, film, filament, injection molded product, blow molded product, etc. The propylene polymer composition of the invention has excellent properties of the propylene polymer or the propylene block copolymer, and moreover is excellent in heat stability during the molding stage, long-term heat stability and weathering resistance. The propylene polymer composition can be favorably used for sheet, film, filament, injection molded product, blow molded product, etc.

    • The present invention provides olefin polymerization catalysts and processes for preparing a polypropylene and a propylene block copolymer using the olefin polymerization catalysts. The olefin polymerization catalyst (1) of the invention is formed from: (I-1) a contact product obtained by contacting: (A) a solid titanium catalyst component, (B) an organometallic compound catalyst component, and (C) a specific organosilicon compound; (II-1) (D) a specific polyether compound; and optionally, (III) an organometallic compound catalyst component. The olefin polymerization catalyst (2) of the invention is formed from: (I-2) a contact product obtained by contacting: (A) a solid titanium catalyst component, (B) an organometallic compound catalyst component, and (D) a specific polyether compound; (II-2) (C) a specific organosilicon compound; and optionally, (III) an organometallic compound catalyst component. The propylene is polymerized in the presence of the above-mentioned olefin polymerization catalysts to prepare highly isotactic polypropylene. The propylene block copolymer is prepared by the steps of polymerizing propylene to form a polypropylene component and copolymerizing ethylene and an &agr;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms to form an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer component in the presence of the polymerization catalysts.

    • An ethylene polymer having small values of Mw/Mn and Mz/Mw, a small proportion of long-chain branches, a high melt tension and a high swell ratio, and a process for preparing the ethylene polymer are disclosed. A solid titanium catalyst component obtained by initially bringing a solid titanium composite which is obtained by the contact of a solid magnesium aluminum composite containing magnesium, halogen, aluminum, and an alkoxy group of 6 or more carbon atoms and/or alcohol of 6 or more carbon atoms with a tetravalent titanium compound into contact with an organometallic compound, and then bringing the resulting product into contact with oxygen is further disclosed. An ethylene polymerization catalyst comprising the above catalyst component and an organometallic compound catalyst component is furthermore disclosed. Therefore, the ethylene polymer is excellent in moldability, and a molded article obtained therefrom is excellent in rigidity and impact resistance and free from poor appearance.

    • The present invention relates to a process for producing a polyolefin having a functional group at its terminal and the object thereof is to provide a process in which the above polyolefin can be obtained with industrial advantages. This object can be attained by the process comprising step (A) producing a terminal-modified polyolefin of the formula P-AlR.sup.1 R.sup.2, wherein P is a polymer chain and each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is, for example, a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst composed of a solid titanium catalyst component (a) and an organoaluminum compound catalyst component (b) optionally together with an organosilicon compound (c) and step (B) producing a polyoiefin of the formula P-X, wherein P is as defined above and X is a functional group, by conducting a substitution reaction between -AlR.sup.1 R.sup.2 group of the terminal-modified polyolefin obtained in the above step (A) and a compound having a functional group structure or by first conducting a substitution reaction between -AlR.sup.1 R.sup.2 group of the terminal-modified polyolefin obtained in the above step (A) and a compound having such a structure that a functional group is formed by solvolysis and thereafter conducting solvolysis. The polyolefin having a functional group at its terminal is advantageously used as, for example, a compatibilizer for a polymer blend or a starting material in molecular designing.

    • This invention provides a solid titanium catalyst component which comprises magnesium, titanium, halogen and an electron donor, is free from elimination of titanium when washed with hexane at room temperature, and has a titanium content decrease ratio of less than 15 % by weight when washed with o-dichlorobenzene at 90° C. The catalyst component can be prepared by a process wherein solid titanium (i) which is free from elimination of titanium when washed with hexane at room temperature is contacted with a polar compound having a dipole moment of 0.50 to 4.00 Debye to decrease the titanium content by at least 25 % by weight, whereby a solid titanium catalyst component having a weight ratio of an electron donor to titanium of at least 6 is prepared. Olefin polymerization catalyst containing the solid titanium catalyst component can be used for (co)polymerization of olefins with high activity to obtain a polyolefin of high stereoregularity in decreased quantities of a low stereoregular polyolefin.
