    • A system with a host bus adapter (“HBA”) having a TCP/IP offload engine is provided. The HBA includes logic for concurrently processing markers, data integrity fields (“DIFs”) and digests by using plural counters that count words in a data stream and individual routing bits are set for markers, DIFs and digests based on the plural counter values. When a counter reaches a certain threshold value, then locator bits are set for a field and the locator bits are forwarded with the data stream. A marker counter is incremented when each word in a data stream passes by the marker counter and markers can be inserted at a programmed interval. For DIF calculation an offset of a first byte in a DMA transfer and partial cyclic redundancy code value is seeded into a DIF location counter, which is incremented for each byte of data that passes by the DIF location counter.

    • The invention relates to an electromagnetic piezoelectric acoustic sensor (EMPAS). The sensor comprises a piezoelectric sensor plate spaced apart from an induced dynamic electromagnetic field, such as from an electromagnetic coil through which AC current flows. The electromagnetic field induces vibration in the sensor plate by fluctuating the aligned dipole moments of the piezoelectric material. Changes on the surface of the sensor plate can be detected by variation in resonance frequency of the sensor plate. The invention represents an improvement over conventional sensor methodologies in that no metallization of the sensor surface is required, and no permanent magnet is needed. The sensor may be used to detect absorption of molecules or biomolecular interactions between probe and target molecules.

    • An aesthetic and highly functional massage tool is disclosed which comprises a generally triangular frame adapted to be held in the palm of one hand. It has three leg members, each leg member extending generally from a bottom side corner portion of the frame a height generally exceeding the thickness of a finger. Each leg having a generally rounded bottom portion. The legs and triangular frame are monolithically molded from plastic. The frame has a generally triangular opening so that one may extend their fingers therethrough and around a side portion of the frame. This triangular design enables one to securely and comfortably hold the massage tool in multiple positions while during use. This is important because use in any one position tires particular muscles of the massageur. It also facilitates massaging different body portions in differing manners. The triangular void facilitates wrapping one's fingers around the massage tool. It enables one to slide the tool along while pushing downwardly on it. One's hand effortlessly falls within the triangular void and over the exterior of the triangular frame sufficiently to prevent the tool from slipping out from beneath one's hand. The triangular void also allows one to massage holding the tool in an upright position. In the most preferred embodiment the generally triangular frame has the shape of a heart and the plastic is marbled in more than one color.

    • Oligonucleotides and other biomolecules are immobilized in high density on solid substrates through covalent forces using either a permanent thioether bond, or a chemoselectively reversible disulfide bond to a surface thiol. Substrates which have hydroxyl groups on their surfaces can be first silanized with a trichlorosilane containing 2-20 carbon atoms in its hydrocarbon backbone, terminating in a protected thiol group. The oligonucleotides or other biomolecules are first connected to a tether consisting of a hydrocarbon or polyether chain of 2-20 units in length which terminates in a thiol group. This thiol may be further modified with a halobenzylic-bifunctional water soluble reagent which allows the conjugate to be immobilized onto the surface thiol group by a permanent thioether bond. Alternatively, the oligonucleotide-tether-thiol group can be converted to a pyridyldisulfide functionality which attaches to the surface thiol by a chemoselectively reversible disulfide bond. The permanently bound oligonucleotides are immobilized in high density compared to other types of thiol functionalized silane surfaces and to the avidin-biotin method.
