    • PURPOSE:To obtain the grain oriented silicon steel sheet excellent in adhesive properties of a coated film not to mention iron loss characteristics by performing smoothening treatment due to electrolysis in an aq. soln. contg. halide on the surface of the grain oriented silicon steel sheet after finishing secondary recrystallization annealing and coating a polymer of inorganic substance having flexibility on the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:Oxide is removed by pickling from the surface of a grain orientated silicon steel sheet after finishing secondary recrystallization annealing in accordance with necessity. Thereafter electrolytic treatment is performed on the surface in an aq. soln. of water-soluble halide such as HCl and NaCl. As a result, a 'magnetically smooth' face which is extremely small in resistance for transfer of a magnetic domain wall is magnetically formed on the surface of this steel sheet. Then the surface of the steel sheet after finishing smoothening treatment is coated with a polymer of inorganic substance having flexibility. As this polymer of inorganic substance, the polymer having a bonding group of B, Si and O is favorably proper. In such a way, the grain oriented silicon steel sheet is obtained whose surface of the steel sheet after finishing smoothening treatment is effectively coated by insulated coating enriched in heat resistance not to mention adhesive properties without causing magnetic deterioration.

    • PURPOSE:To enable achievement of uniform and high-efficient polishing with high smoothness throughout the whole width of a surface, by a method wherein, in a machinery polishing device, abrasives which electrolyte can penetrate are placed around a rotary shaft capable of being energized, and machinery polishing is performed simultaneously with electrolytic polishing. CONSTITUTION:In machinery polishing devices 4a-4c, abrasives 6a-6c which electrolyte can penetrate are situated on the peripheral surfaces of rotary shafts 5a-5c formed by an electric conductor, e.g. metals. The rotary shafts 5a-5c are mounted to an electrolytic bath 2 in a state to apply mechanical seal, and a carbon brush and the like is forced into contact with a shaft end protruded outwardly of the electrolytic bath 2 for energization. A substance in which organic fiber, e.g. polyester, is coated on a brush and non-woven cloth is used as the abrasives 6a-6c. In this way, composite polishing in which electrolytic polishing and machine polishing are simultaneously applied can be realized, and thus polishing throughout the whole width of a metallic strip can be uniformly and high-efficiently performed, and a metallic strip having excellent surface nature can be easily produced.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a grain oriented silicon steel sheet having an excellent iron loss characteristic at a low cost by removing the surface oxide layer of the grain oriented silicon steel sheet subjected to finish annealing, then subjecting the surface to a polishing treatment to a specular surface of a specified polishing depth and annealing the steel sheet in a reducing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The grain oriented silicon steel sheet is prepd. by subjecting a slab consisting of a prescribed component compsn. to hot rolling and forming the sheet to the final sheet thickness by cold rolling including intermediate annealing, then subjecting the steel sheet to decarburization annealing and final finish annealing. After the oxide on the surface of this steel sheet is removed, the surface is subjected to the polishing treatment to the specular surface at >=0.5mu, more preferably about >=10mu polishing depth by electrolytic polishing. This steel sheet is annealed for about 10min-2hr at about 400-950 deg.C in the reducing atmosphere (CO, H2). The oxyhydroxide on the surface of the steel sheet is thereby easily decomposed and annihilated and the effective mirror- finished surface is obtd. The excellent iron loss characteristic is thus imparted to the steel sheet.

    • PURPOSE:To provide the titled device which can form a thick-walled strip with good adhesiveness even with a metallic strip which is continuously passed therethrough by installing a grid-shaped auxiliary electrode to the ionization section formed between an evaporating source and metallic strip respectively impressed with positive and negative voltages in such a manner that the electrode attaches to the strip on the inlet side of a treatment vessel and detaches therefrom on the outlet side thereof. CONSTITUTION:The metallic strip S impressed with the negative voltage is fed through an inlet side differential pressure chamber array 2 into the high vacuum treatment vessel 1. The ionization section is formed between the electron beam evaporating source 9 impressed with the positive voltage and the strip S impressed with the negative voltage and the above- mentioned auxiliary electrode 13 in the treatment vessel 1. The evaporating matter generated from the evaporating source 9 and the reactive gas introduced 17 into the vessel are excited and ionized by a high-frequency excitation coil 12 and are deposited in the form of a metal compd. on the surface of the strip S, by which the film is formed. Since the auxiliary electrode 13 is disposed in the above-mentioned manner, the thick film ceramic film of about 10mum having the high adhesiveness to the strip S is continuously coated on the strip. The formed film contributes to the improvement in various surface characteristics including the resistance to corrosion, oxidation, wear, etc.
