摘要： A liquid crystal displaying apparatus has an active matrix liquid crystal display provided with a plurality of liquid crystal displaying devices arranged in a horizontal and a vertical direction to form a matrix. The apparatus further includes a horizontal driver provided along rows of the devices, a first vertical driver provided along the leftmost column of the devices and a second vertical driver provided along the rightmost column of the devices. The horizontal driver supplies video signals to the devices by scanning the devices left to right or right to left in a direction of the rows. The first vertical driver supplies control signals to the liquid crystal display to turn on the devices from the leftmost to the rightmost column of the devices when the horizontal driver scans the devices left to right in the direction of the rows. On the other hand, the second vertical driver supplies control signals to the liquid crystal display to turn on the devices from the rightmost to the leftmost column of the devices when the horizontal driver scans the devices right to left in the direction of the rows. The horizontal driver may include a first horizontal driving section provided along the uppermost row of the devices and a second horizontal driving section provided along the lowermost row of the devices. The first horizontal driving section scans the devices left to right in the direction of the rows or the second horizontal driving section scans the devices right to left in the direction of the rows in response to a selection signal.

摘要： A system has a first electrode, a second electrode, a photosensitive member located between the first and second electrodes, a recording member located between the first and second electrodes, and an optical shutter. In this system, light having information to be recorded is applied to the photosensitive member. The light information is recorded on the recording member. An exposure amount of the light with respect to the photosensitive member is set by setting a time during which the optical shutter remains open. A drive voltage of a predetermined variation manner is applied between the first and second electrodes during the recording of the light information on the recording member.

摘要： A liquid crystal displaying apparatus has a reflection-type liquid crystal display with vertical orientation-mode liquid crystals, to modulate linearly polarized light. Also provided is a polarization and diffracting section to convert read light beams obliquely incident thereto to the linearly polarized light, to allow the linearly polarized light to be incident to the liquid crystal display, allow first polarized light components of the linearly polarized light modulated by the liquid crystal display to pass therethrough, the first polarized light components vibrating in a first direction perpendicular to a second direction in which the linearly polarized light vibrates, and diffract second polarized light components of the linearly polarized light to a third direction from which the read light beams be incident to the liquid crystal display, the second polarized light components vibrating in the second direction. Further provided are a quarter wavelength plate to allow elliptically polarized light which includes the first polarized light components and a small quantity of the second polarized light components to pass therethrough when the liquid crystal display is active for modulation, and a polarizer to allow polarized light components of the elliptically polarized light to pass therethrough, the polarized light components matching a transmission axis of the polarizer.

摘要： A display unit which can be used with various sources of information includes a light-to-light conversion element composed of first and second stripe electrodes arranged to jointly form a matrix electrode, and a photoconductive layer and a light modulation layer disposed between the first and second stripe electrodes, the impedance of the photoconductive layer changes with information written to the light-to-light conversion element. The photoconductive layer is irradiated with a linear light beam deflected in a direction to intersect first stripe electrode, while at the same time successive pieces of information to be inputted to corresponding picture elements are supplied to respective stripe electrode elements of the first stripe electrode. With the use of the matrix electrode, information can be written to and read out from the light-to-light conversion element at a higher response rate with high resolution.

摘要： There is provided a polarization converter for producing a beam of linearly polarized light from a randomly polarized light. The randomly polarized light is separated into a first polarized light which is projected in a first predetermined direction and a second polarized light having a predetermined angular relationship with the first polarized light. The second polarized light is converted into a third polarized light a polarization of which is identical to that of the first polarized light. By providing a predetermined two-dimensional positional relationship between the first and third polarized lights, the beam of linearly polarized light is produced and advanced on the outside of the converter in a second predetermined direction.

摘要： A drive apparatus for an optical element array includes a counter counting clock pulses and being periodically reset at a horizontal scanning period. The counter outputs first and second counter signals out of phase with each other. A latch holds a pixel-corresponding segment of an input image signal. One of clock signals out of phase with each other is selected in response to the pixel-corresponding input-signal segment held by the latch. A first comparator compares the first counter signal and the pixel-corresponding input-signal segment held by the latch, and outputs a first identity signal when the first counter signal and the pixel-corresponding input-signal segment are equal to each other. A second comparator compares the second counter signal and the pixel-corresponding input-signal segment held by the latch, and outputs a second identity signal when the second counter signal and the pixel-corresponding input-signal segment are equal to each other. A drive pulse is generated which starts in synchronism with a start of a horizontal scanning period and which ends in response to the selected clock signal and in response to the first and second identity signals. An optical element in the array is driven in response to the drive pulse.

摘要： An image processing system for an image display comprising an image data producing device for producing image data corresponding to an image to be displayed and a display device for displaying the image on the basis of the produced image data. The image data producing device divides the image data into a plurality of data sections respectively corresponding to image areas constituting the image so that each of the plurality of data sections is produced as serial data and the plurality of data sections are outputted in parallel. The display device is responsive to the image data from the image data producing device so that the plurality of data sections are inputted in parallel to the plurality of element sections, whereby the display device displays the image on a screen on the basis of the plurality of inputted data sections. This arrangement can speedily display a jointless high-grade image in real time.
