    • PURPOSE:To prevent leakage by providing a sleeve on the periphery of a main shaft penetrating a vessel, installing a jacket thereover, supplying a thermomedium (cooling water) thereto, and thereby increasing the viscosity of medium to be sealed at the periphery of the main shaft. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 4 is provided on the periphery of a main shaft 6 penetrating a vessel wall, which is enclosed by a jacket 5 equipped with an inlet 2 and an outlet 3 for thermomedium (cooling water), and when the temp. of a polymer having intruded to around the main shaft 6 from the vessel is high, the cooling water is allowed to flow into the jacket to sink the temp. of the polymer for increasing its viscosity, and thereby the outflux resistance is enlarged to accomplish prevention of leakage. This main shaft 6 may be constructed as a screw shaft, and the sleeve 4 be fitted with labyrinth. Further provision of a temp. measuring point 12 and sending signals therefrom toe an adjuster 8 and a converter 11 to actuate an automatic valve 9 will provide automatic leak prevention.

    • PURPOSE: To enable the washing of the cooler of condensed liquid for the removal of distillate of the polymerization step, effectively and economically, without using an exclusive washing apparatus, by using the condensed distillate obtained by the preceding esterification process in the continuous polymerization apparatus as the above washing liquid.
CONSTITUTION: In the continuous polymerization apparatus for the production of a polymer by esterification and polymerization steps, the condensation liquid is supplied to a condenser for the removal of the distillate generated in the polymerisation step. The material deposited in the cooler for the cooling of the condensation liquid is washed and removed with the distilled and condensed liquid obtained by the esterification step in place of the hot condensed liquid used in the conventional process.

    • PURPOSE:To provide titled reactor capable of both intermediate and final polymerization processings successively in one unit, consisting of a plural of compartments formed by setting, within horizontal two-shaft reactor, partition board with channel for processed liquor so as to enable operating pressure to be regulated in each compartment independently. CONSTITUTION:A horizontally set cylindrical main body 6 is divided by partition board 9 having, in the lower part, channel 9a for processed liquor to form, in the longer direction, front and rear compartments 5a and 5b, respectively. Revolving shafts 8a and 8b provided parallel each other within the main body 6 in such a manner as to penetrate through the board 9 are fitted with blades 10a, 10b and 11a, 11b, respectively. A processed liquor having been subjected to initial polymerization in a vertical reactor is fed, through nozzle 16 to the front compartment 5a, where both agitating and surface-renewal actions by the blades revolving in the opposite direction each other make the volatile components contained evaporate to effect promotion of the reaction, thus the viscosity of the liquor gradually becoming higher; said liquor being fed, through the channel 9a, to the rear compartment 5b, where the reaction proceeds under similar actions to the above, thus being discharged through outlet nozzle 17.

    • PURPOSE: To make the temperature in a reaction chamber uniform, and to improve the reaction efficiency, by dividing a reaction chamber filled with immobilized enzyme into plural small chambers, and transferring the reaction liquid successively to each small chamber while stirring the content in the chamber.
CONSTITUTION: The inside of the reaction chamber 1 is divided with partition plates 4 into plural small chambers, and each chamber is furnished with a stirring blade 3 attached to the stirring shaft 2 extending through the partition plates 4. The reaction liquid supplied through the inlet nozzle 6 into the reaction chamber 1 is made to contact with immobilized enzyme filled preparatorily in each small chamber, to effect the enzymatic reaction. The liquid is transferred upward successively to the upper chamber while being stirred with the stirring blade 3, and the product is taken out of the system from the outlet nozzle 5.

    • PURPOSE:To exactly display a level of a liquid, by providing plural electrodes in a suport vertically provided in a storage tank, connecting each electrode to a high frequency power source, constituting a level display of a detector, a decoder, an arithmetic device, etc., and connecting the detector to the storage tank. CONSTITUTION:A high frequency power source 13 is operated, and a current value is detected by detectors 14a-14c from the electrostatic capacity between electrodes 12a-12c and a storage tank 10. Since the distance between the bottom wall of the storage tank 10 and the electrodes 12a-12c is known already, a digital signal is outputted to an arithmetic device 19 from a decoder 18, is processed by the device 19, and thereafter, the digital signal is outputted to a level indicator 20 from the device 19, and a level l0 of a liquid is indicated roughly. Even if the conductivity of a fluid in the storage tank is varied, said signal is processed by the arithmetic device in accordance with a current value detected by the detector, the distance between the bottom side of the storage tank and the lower end of the electrode, and the length of the electrode, and is outputted to a level indicator, by which a level of a fluid can be indicated exactly.

    • PURPOSE:To produce the titled uniform copolymer, by supplying a solution of a styrene/acrylonitrile prepolymer into a horizontal continuous polymerizer and supplying styrene through a plurality of inlets located on the polymerizer along the longitudinal direction while removing the heat by spraying acrylonitrile over the surface of the polymerization solution. CONSTITUTION:A polymerization solution prepared by prepolymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile to a conversion of 30-60% in a prepolymerization tank 8 is supplied through an inlet nozzle 2 to a horizontal continuous polymerizer 1, and the solution is bulk-polymerized. Then, styrene is added through a plurality of inlet nozzles 5 provided on the polymerizer 1 along the longitudinal direction to adjust the composition of the polymer, while the heat of polymerization and that of mixing which result as the polymerization proceeds are removed by spraying acrylonitrile at a flow rate sufficient to provide a sensible heat and a latent heat of vaporization corresponding to the heat of polymerization and that of mixing. Then, from an exit nozzle 3, a copolymer solution of a conversion of 75-85% is withdrawn and is supplied through an inlet nozzle 10 to a film evaporator 9 wherein the volatile matter is removed. The devolatilized product is withdrawn from a receiver tank 11.
