    • An exerciser has a base, a pair of parallel guide rails disposed on the base, a pair of driven units mounted slidably and respectively on the guide rails, and a friction-type resistance device mounted on the base and connected operably to the driven units to resist movement of the driven units. The resistance device includes a friction wheel mounted rotatably on the base, a friction belt trained on the friction wheel, a tension spring interconnecting one end of the friction belt and the base, and first and second transmission rollers mounted rotatably on the base at two sides of the friction wheel. First and second clutch units couple a respective one of the first and second transmission rollers and the friction wheel only when the respective transmission roller rotates in a first direction to drive rotatably the friction wheel in the first direction. The friction wheel applies a force to the friction belt in a compressing direction of the tension spring while rotating in the first direction. An endless transmission belt is secured to the driven units and is looped around the first and second transmission rollers so that reciprocating sliding movement of the driven units along the guide rails enables the endless transmission belt to drive the first and second transmission rollers to rotate in opposite directions.

    • A computer-implemented arrangement is described for performing cepstral mean normalization (CMN) in automatic speech recognition. A current CMN function is stored in a computer memory as a previous CMN function. The current CMN function is updated based on a current audio input to produce an updated CMN function. The updated CMN function is used to process the current audio input to produce a processed audio input. Automatic speech recognition of the processed audio input is performed to determine representative text. If the audio input is not recognized as representative text, the updated CMN function is replaced with the previous CMN function.

    • The present invention discloses a bump structure and a method for fabricating the same. The bump structure of the present invention comprises a semiconductor substrate having a plurality of connection pads; a passivation layer covering the substrate and having openings each corresponding to one connection pad, wherein the openings reveal a portion of each connection pad to form a plurality of electrical-connection areas; an elastic layer formed on the passivation layer; and a plurality of bumps each formed corresponding to one electric-connection area and extending to the elastic layer, whereby the elasticity and deformability of the bumps is enhanced. The present invention uses a larger-texture (≧20 μm) patterning process to fabricate an appropriate patterned elastic layer (having parallel lines, strips, or saw teeth) to enhance the elasticity and deformability of the bumps, whereby the bump structure of the present invention can apply to a fine-pitch IC.

    • A two-way fastening structure for a tablet PC comprises a mainframe, a cover body, a pusher, and a fastener. The mainframe has a fastening groove, and a magnetic element is provided adjacent to the fastening groove. The cover body has a bottom wall and a top wall opposite to the bottom wall. The bottom wall and the top wall respectively have a first opening and a second opening corresponding to the fastening groove. The pusher is slidably disposed within the cover body corresponding to the first opening and the second opening. The pusher is provided with an elastic element at one end, such that the pusher has a first position and a second position. When the cover body is turned to cover the mainframe, the magnetic element attracts the fastener, such that the fastener protrudes from the first opening or the second opening, and thereby snapping in the fastening groove.
