A cuff winding apparatus includes a gas supplying device which supplies a predetermined amount of gas into the chamber of the cuff to hold the gas in the chamber, a pressure sensor which detects a gas pressure in the chamber of the cuff, a judging device for judging whether the pressure of the chamber detected by the pressure sensor has reached a reference value, and a driving device which increases a tension of the cuff to reduce a diameter of the cuff surrounding the body portion of the subject, the driving device holding the diameter of the cuff when the judging device makes a positive judgment.
