    • In an image-sensing device, the output of an area sensor 1 obtained as an electric signal logarithmically proportional to the amount of incident light is converted by a conversion circuit 3 into an electric signal linearly proportional to the amount of incident light by use of a conversion formula for exponential conversion stored in a memory 2. The thus converted output is fed to a processing circuit 4 so that, even if the area sensor 1 is a LOG sensor, the processing circuit 4 of a conventional circuit design configured to process a linearly converted signal can process the electric signal output from the area sensor 1.

    • A gas concentration measuring apparatus is provided which measures the concentration of two kinds of gas components such as O2 and NOx contained in exhaust gasses of an internal combustion engine of automotive vehicles. The apparatus has a gas sensor which includes a first cell responsive to application of a voltage to discharge O2 in the exhaust gasses to the outside and produce an electric current as a function of concentration of the discharged O2 and a second cell responsive to application of a voltage to produce an electric current as a function of concentration of NOx in the exhaust gasses from which the O2 is discharged by the first cell. The apparatus offsets an error component of the electric current produced by the second cell which depends upon O2 contained in the exhaust gasses, or which in related operations, depends upon any residual oxygen remaining in the second cell without being discharged by the first cell.

    • A conductive-pattern recognition apparatus is provided, which makes it sure to recognize a conductive pattern accurately. This apparatus is comprised of (a) a main electrode roller formed by circular main electrodes and circular insulators arranged alternately along a straight line and coupled together, (b) a pressure-sensitive rubber layer fixed onto an outer surface of the main electrode roller and contacted with the main electrodes and the insulators, (c) a moving mechanism for moving a specimen with a conductive pattern in a direction perpendicular to a rotation axis of the main electrode roller so that the specimen applies a pressure to the pressure-sensitive rubber layer, (d) a conduction detector for detecting electric conduction among at least two ones of the main electrodes of the main electrode roller through the pressure-sensitive rubber layer, and (e) a rotation detector for detecting a rotation amount of the main electrode roller. When a part of the pressure-sensitive rubber layer is contacted with the conductive pattern of the specimen, the part of the pressure-sensitive rubber layer causes electric conduction among corresponding ones of the main electrodes of the main electrode roller, thereby recognizing the conductive pattern of the specimen by using the conduction detector and the rotation detector.

    • Vertical and horizontal sync signals are separated from an NTSC signal inputted from an outside by an external input circuit and a luminance signal (Y) and chrominance signals (B-Y, R-Y) are extracted and converted into RGB data. External RGB data and RGB data formed by a software are processed and the resultant data is supplied to an output converting circuit. The RGB data is converted into analog signals of the luminance signal and chrominance signals of a television signal by using individual system clock signals and outputted. A clock generating circuit generates two kinds of dot clocks which are used for the output converting circuit. The dot clock which is generated from the clock generating circuit and is used for conversion of the luminance signal is phase matched so as to follow a jitter of a horizontal sync signal (H) separated by an external video input circuit.
