    • A decorative pivoting mailbox assembly for road-side use which is less susceptible to damage from snow plows or automobiles. The assembly is attached to any standard vertical mailbox post and forms a platform for attaching the mailbox. Once the mailbox is attached, the invention acts as a self-centering hinge which allows the mailbox to swing in excess of 90 degrees from its original position to either side. It then returns via a spring, gravity and inherent hinge design to its original position. At all times, the mailbox is kept in a horizontal attitude and does not tilt. This invention allows the mailbox to be cantilevered out over the street to assist in mail insertion yet allows the homeowner to swing it sideways and empty the contents without venturing into the street and traffic.

    • A waterproof portable lamp (10) comprises a housing (12); a light source (14) including a plurality of LEDs, a power supply (16) for said light source (14) and a switch (18) for energizing said light source (14) contained within said housing (12). An opening (20) is formed in said housing (12) permitting egress of light when said light source (14) is energized. A flexible, transparent cover (22) is peripherally sealed to said opening (20) in a watertight manner and a switch activator (24) is substantially centrally located on and fixed to said flexible, transparent cover (22). The lamp (10) is activated be depressing the center of the flexible cover (22), which moves the switch activator (24) into contact with the switch (18).

    • A lamp (10) has a cup-shaped body (12) with a planar bottom (14) with an up-standing, peripheral sidewall (16) defining a top (18). The body (12) is thermally conductive and preferably is a metal such as aluminum. A reflective coating (20) is provided on the inside surface of the planar bottom (14) and side wall (16) for reflecting light generated by a single, side emitting LED (22) that is mounted on a thermally conductive, electrically insulating coupling (24) and is positioned substantially in the center of the planar bottom (14). A lens (26) for directing a beam of light emitted from the LED (22) in a desired direction is provided and preferably is a Fresnel optic. The lens (26) can close the opening (18) as shown in FIG. 1 or it can be formed as an integral part of bottom (14) or it can be added to the bottom (14), as shown in FIG. 2. Alternatively, the lens (26) can be solid with the lens elements either external (FIG. 4) or internal (FIG. 5). Electrical connections (28, 30) to the LED extend through the cup-shaped body (14).

    • An LED and light guide assembly has an LED with an output surface; a first power input lead electrically coupled to a first pole and having a first surface and a second surface; and a second power input lead electrically coupled to a second pole and having a first surface and a second surface. A unitary, molded light guide has an axially extending, light transmissive body with a light output window. An input window is formed with the unitary, molded light guide being aligned in a zero-gap relationship to capture substantially all the light emitted by the LED.     • An LED lamp has a housing comprising a heat conductive body arrayed about a longitudinal axis with a tubular projection extending therefrom coaxial with the longitudinal axis. The tubular projection has a distal end attached to the heat conductive body and a proximal end opposite thereto. A motor is positioned within the tubular projection and has a tubular, vaned fan blade operatively connected thereto. A plurality of LED components is attached to an outside surface of the tubular projection at the proximal end. An air inlet is formed at the proximal end of the tubular projection and a plurality of air outlets are spaced about the tubular projection between the distal end of the tubular projection and the LED components. A base is operatively attached to the housing for attachment to a power supply.

    • A portable light (10) has a rigid base (12), a power supply (14) having first and second poles (16, 18) within the base and a light source (20) positioned in the base (12). The light source (20) has first and second lead-ins (22, 24). The first lead-in (22) is in contact with the first pole (16) of the power supply (14). Electrical isolation means (26) isolates the second lead-in (24) from the second pole (18) of the power supply (14); and a flexible cover (28) is fitted to the base (12). The cover (28) includes at least one portion (30) that is contactable with the second lead-in (24) whereby pressure on the at least one portion (30) defeats the electrical isolation means (26) and causes a connection between the second lead-in (24) and the second pole (18) of the power supply (14) to actuate the light source (20) while the pressure is being applied.
