摘要： A copier-duplicator includes a master preparing section for uniformly charging and then exposing a photoelectrostatic master to provide a latent image on the master. An adjustable optical system permits the size of the image to be changed to provide copies of different sizes, and a controlled illumination source removes the charge from the unused area of the master to avoid spurious powder transfer to the copies. The prepared master is clamped on a rotating cylinder, and the image is developed by powder and transferred to copy sheets by a pressure roller as many times as required to produce the desired number of copies.

摘要： A document feeder transfers original documents placed in a stack one at a time in succession into a copying position on an exposure platen of a copy machine. The control circuit for the feeder includes means for initiating the feeding of an original document from a stack of original documents in the tray of the document feeder into and along a transport path. The control circuit additionally enables the document feeder to expel an original document from the exposure platen of a copy machine after a desired number of copies have been made. The control circuit further includes means to prevent the feeding of further original documents into and along the transport path until the desired number of copies of a previously fed original document are completed. The control circuit further controls the initiation of the copying process of the copy machine. Additionally, means are provided to detect the jamming of an original document during its expulsion from the exposure platen of the copy machine.

摘要： An improved sheet feeder assembly includes a feed foot having a friction or feed wheel which is disposed in pressure engagement with a sheet to be fed. An electrical vibrator assembly moves the feed foot through forward and return strokes. During a return stroke, the friction wheel rolls along an upper surface of a sheet. During a forward or feed stroke, a one-way clutch assembly holds the friction wheel against rotation so that the sheet is moved forwardly with the friction wheel. As the friction wheel moves forwardly, it also moves toward a guide or register surface to square-up or side register a skewed sheet as it is fed forwardly. The vibrator assembly and feed foot are mounted on a four bar linkage arrangement so that the orientation of the feed foot relative to a pile of sheets is maintained constant as sheets are fed from the pile. The pressure with which the friction wheel engages a sheet is controlled by a counter-weight which is adjustable to vary the pressure between the friction wheel and a sheet.

The photoelectrostatic copying method involves illuminating the original to be reproduced with a mercury-vapor type lamp which has been modified to include thallium vapors through the introduction of thallium halide into the lamp envelope. A high intensity green light is emitted which performs as a monochromatic energy source and finds particular application when reproducing originals having more than one color indicia thereon so that all colors are reproduced in accordance with their relative brightness on the original.

摘要： A cleaning unit is provided for removing ink, sludge and like matter from the blanket of a printing press or machine. In one form, the unit comprises a cleaner roll mounted for rotation and adapted to contact and be driven by the blanket during its travel. A wick roll is mounted substantially parallel to and in wiping contact with the cleaner roll, the two rolls being adapted as a unit to be moved toward and away from the blanket to place the cleaner roll in and out of contact with the blanket. However, the wick roll is periodically repositioned with respect to the cleaner roll while that roll is out of contact with the blanket in order to present another wiping portion of the wick roll to contact the cleaner roll. In this manner, the cleaner roll picks up the ink, sludge and other like matter from the blanket and transfers it to the wick roll. Optionally, as the wick roll continues to be periodically repositioned, the matter collected on the wick roll is removed by a plurality of jets of a cleaning fluid directed against a side of the wick roll that is disposed away from the cleaning roll.

The opening is provided with laterally extending, spaced apart guides having a narrow flat support attached to the lead edges of the opening of the housing so that the sheets of paper may bridge the opening without entering and at the same time leaving an uninterrupted path for the corona discharge to reach the paper.
