    • A method and apparatus for retaining an electronic function card in the receptacle of a host data processing system (host socket) is described. The present invention exerts a retention force on the card in addition to the frictional forces exerted on each of the connector contacts inserted into the host socket. By increasing the retention forces exerted on an electronic function inserted into a host socket, the chance of the card dislodging from the host socket during a mechanical shock event is reduced. The present invention also provides tactile and/or auditory feedback to the user to indicate when the card is fully inserted into the host socket. Further, a card extractor may be coupled to the retainer of the present invention. When disengaged, the card extractor will release the retention force on the card and the card may be easily removed from the host socket.

    • A molded circuit board securement and voltage isolation device is provided for use with one or more circuit boards or related electrical apparatus in an electrical enclosure. The device includes an open housing which has a base and opposing side walls positioned transversely with respect to the base. A stiffener such as a bridge is provided to provide the physical stiffness for the device and to resist mechanical vibration. The bridge spans the opposing side walls which have slots formed therein to permit the receipt of electrical apparatus such as circuit boards, for example. Circuit boards are secured in the device in substantially perpendicular alignment both with respect to the base and the opposing side walls. In another aspect of this device, at least two circuit boards can be positioned in a housing with a solid support wall formed between them to conserve available space. The solid support wall and the secure positioning of the circuit boards provides separation between the boards which promotes voltage isolation.

    • A rotatable latch is provided for securing an object to a holder and for preventing unintended removal of the object. In a preferred embodiment, the rotatable latch has at least two actuators flexibly mounted to a body. Each actuator has a hooked portion which engages a portion of the holder. A lever portion may be provided for releasing the hooked portion. The hooked portion is rotated about a pivot point to release the object from the holder. Rotation occurs when actuators are released through use of at least two lever portions. To prevent accidental removal of the object, the second actuator cannot be released until the first actuator has been released. The latch requires at least two actions, pressing the levers in succession, to release the object. The invention is applicable, for example, to circuit packs for electronic circuit boards.
