CONSTITUTION:When the time of a line shifting operation in a printer 11, for example, is measured, a line shifting operation section 16 rotates a platen 4 for one line shift by line shift instruction from a control section 10, and at the same time busy signal is output from time T2 to start operation to time T4 to finish it, and on the other hand, a counter 12 counts during that time pulses from an oscillator 13 and the values of counting are retained. Next, a counter letter printing control section 14 reads values of counting retained in the counter 12 by the counter letter printing order from a control section 10, and the counted values are printed by the letter printing order through a letter printing control section 15 and a letter printing section 6.

CONSTITUTION:Printing data (line feed signal LF, letter data C, and carriage return signal CR) are read out by a decorder 1, and the letter data C is stored in a printing buffer 7 through the contact point (a) of a switcher and its number is counted by a counter 2. When the counted value of the counter 2 exceeds a printing line, a discriminator 3 sends out a signal B to switch a switcher 4 to the contact point (b), and C2 of the letter data C is stored in the printing buffer 8. After a paper is carried by as much as usual line intervals, data C1 in the buffer 7 is first printed, the paper is carried at half (b) of the line interval (a) by a form feed controller 6, and then data C2 in the buffer 8 are printed. The following line feed and carriage are made at the line interval (b).

SOLUTION: If a bound medium 3 is inserted from a medium insertion opening 1 to print the bound medium, the bound portion 9 gets caught in the medium insertion opening 1, preventing it from getting printed. When the bound medium 3 is inserted from a medium discharge opening 2 and a switch 6 is turned on, a medium feed roller 4 reversely rotates and loads the medium 3 into the interior of the printer body 7 up to the bound portion 9. Subsequently when the switch 6 is turned off, the loading is stopped. At that time, by counting the revolutions of the medium feed roller 4, the size of the medium can be computed. The medium feed roller 4 is normally rotated by receiving a printing signal within the computed revolutions and a printing unit 5 operates and prints. The binding of printed medium 3 is unloaded from the medium discharge opening 2.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve processing efficiency by limiting data prefetching when a designated line feeding amount is larger than a difference between the length of a sheet and a sheet feeding length at the time of execution of a line feed command in a printing process of second or following sheet. CONSTITUTION:A main controller 20 sorts the content of data prefetching control of first and second and following sheets to be continuously printed. It counts the whole line feeds by a sheet length counter 18 in the sheet printing, measures a sheet length l by the number of lines, and uses it for the data prefetching control in the second or following sheet printing. In the second or following sheet printing, the line feeding amount (t) is counted by a sheet feeding length counter 19 for each line feed command, accumulated, and the sheet feeding length (m) from the head of the sheet to the present printing line is measured by the number of lines. Then, a difference (l-m) is calculated to obtain the effective number of remaining printable lines, which is compared with the line feeding amount (t) of a line feed command to be executed next. Only in case of (l-m)>=t, data prefetching is executed. That is, the line feed is executed, but data prefetching is not conducted, and subsequent data is printed on next sheet.
