According to one aspect of the present invention, a method has the steps of first combining an active chemical with a dried carrier into a bound friable mixture followed by combining the bound friable mixture with a polymer preform prior to forming a device. According to another aspect of the present invention, a method has the steps of heating and mixing a casting urethane with an active chemical into a first solution, heating and mixing a trialkanolamine with a soft segment cross-linker into a second solution, and mixing the two solutions. A further aspect of the present invention is a composition of a casting urethane.

摘要： Wood preservatives having biocidal properties which comprise quaternary ammonium compounds of general formula (I) are described. In this formula, R is a C8-18-alkyl group or an optionally substituted benzyl group, R is a C8-18-alkyl group, R is a C-1-4-alkyl group or a group of the formula -[CH2-CH2-O]n-H, R is a C1-4-alkyl group, n is a number from 0.5 to 8, preferably from 1 to 5, and A is the anion of an organic carboxylic acid which contains 2 to 12 C atoms and carries at least one hydroxyl, amino or sulphonic acid group. The wood preservatives according to the invention also penetrate deeply into the wood without the use of pressure, and have only a mild corrosive action on metals. Furthermore, this invention refers to a process for treating timbers with these compositions, concentrates for the preparation thereof, the use of new and known quaternary ammonium compounds in wood preservatives and new quaternary ammonium compounds and their use as biocides.

摘要： A method for producing products for treating wood and other cellulose products to improve the flame retardancy, and the insecticidal and fungicidal properties of the products. A calcium borate ore, such as colemanite, is reacted first with an acid such as acetic acid. The reaction products, including calcium in solution, are then treated with ammonia, producing ammonium pentaborate. The resulting composition is applied to the wood or other cellulose products by methods such as pressure, diffusion, or immersion and/or dipping treatment. The products have superior leach resistance to water when compared to conventional treatment compounds.
