    • A method for generating an audio signal for a synthetic noise of a motor vehicle is provided. An audio signal for the synthetic noise of a motor vehicle is also provided. In one step of the method, a signal is provided that represents a noise. Moreover, a fundamental frequency is specified that represents an operating rotational speed of the motor of the vehicle. In another step of the method, several filters are applied to the noise signal. These filters each have a mid-frequency linked to the specified fundamental frequency via an order factor. At least several of the order factors are whole numbers, so that these filters filter the harmonic components of the fundamental frequency. The order factors and the amplitude curves of the filters are selected according to the sound characteristic of the motor vehicle noise that is to be synthesized. The noise signal weighted by the filters constitutes the audio signal for the synthetic noise of the motor vehicle as a function of the operating rotational speed of the motor of the vehicle.

    • A system includes a controller for receiving first and second signals representative of a load on an engine, and generating based on the signals. Harmonic scaling elements generate a scaled version of a received engine harmonic signal. Each harmonic scaling element includes a harmonic specific mapping element for mapping the control parameter to a harmonic specific scaling factor. Some of the harmonic specific scaling factor values of the harmonic specific mapping element are mapped to control parameter values associated with a negative load on the engine, and some are mapped to control parameter values associated with a positive load on the engine. The control parameter values associated with the negative load are derived from the first signal, and control parameter values associated with the positive load are derived from the second signal. An adjustable gain element applies the harmonic specific scaling factor to the received engine harmonic signal.

    • There is provided a sound generating device for vehicles that is capable of improving the sensing of acceleration feeling. The sound generating device for vehicles includes an input unit that receives an input of a speed of a vehicle; and a generation unit that generates a sound including a plurality of frequency components when the speed of the vehicle is a first speed. When the speed of the vehicle changes from the first speed to a second speed (higher than the first speed), the generation unit shifts the frequency components included in the sound to a higher frequency side and reduces the sound at a higher frequency band in the shifted frequency components. The generation unit preferably performs pitch shift processing and low pass filter processing (and more preferably performs moving average processing) on the sound.

    • A method and system that controls the playback of different audio or video files in a motor vehicle mounted electronic device that includes a plurality of different audio or video files and an audio file player software program. The electronic device is connected to at least one external sensor that measures one of the following: the motor vehicle's current location, the time of day, and/or the weather or temperature. The software program is designed to automatically play the audio file when the external condition occurs.
