    • Engine barring devices are connected to engines. Known barring devices have been used to rotate crankshafts of engines and adding features to these known devices increases the complexity and cost of such devices. The subject barring device (10) includes a shaft (32) adapted for both axial and rotational movement. A gear (34) is attached to one end of the shaft (32) and is moved axially in a first direction (38) to a first position (40) where a holding device (42) holds the shaft (32) in the first position (40). In the first position (40) the gear (34) is engaged driving with a flywheel (18) connected to the crankshaft (12) of the engine (14). A tool engaging portion (60) located on the shaft (32) is adapted to engage with a turning tool (68). With the shaft (32) in the first position (40), the turning tool (68) can be used to rotate the crankshaft (12) of the engine (14). A locking device (72) is included to hold the crankshaft (12) in one of the plurality of rotational positions (74). The subject barring device (10) provides a holding device (42) to hold the shaft in the first position (40), a device (101) to disable the activation of a starting system (21), a tool engaging portion (66) allowing rotation of the shaft (32) and a locking device (72) to lock the shaft (32) in one of a plurality of rotational positions (74).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine comprising a crank case rotatably supporting a crank shaft and having bearing portions mutually splittable with the split face on the axis of the crank shaft, cylinder barrels having cylinder bores and joined to the crank shaft, and cylinder heads to be joined to the cylinder barrels, having a less number of parts, improved assembling and maintenance property and reduced size and weight.
      SOLUTION: Cylinder blocks 15L, 15R have the cylinder barrels 16L, 16R and the cylinder heads 17L, 17R integrally formed on portions forming at least the cylinder bores 18L, 18R, of the cylinder barrels 16L, 16R. They are fastened to the crank case 14 with a plurality of fastening bolts 35 which have axes parallel to the axes of the cylinder bores 18L, 18R and pass through at least the cylinder blocks 15L, 15R, while being compressed in directions along the axes of the fastening bolts 35.

    • PURPOSE: To perform assembling work quickly and easily by marking a compressor case with reference to preset rotary phase of crank shaft then matching said mark with another mark preset on fuel injection pump and coupling them.
      CONSTITUTION: When applying on 6-cylinder Diesel engine, a rear plate 11 is mounted onto the working table 12 under the condition where the positioning holes 13... are fitted to the knock pins 14... projected from the upper face. Then an air-compressor 17 is secured through stud bolts 19 to said rear plate 11 and the rotary shaft of the compressor 17 is fixed to such rotary angle as corresponding with the rotary phase of crank shaft against the compressor casing 18. Then a mark 34 to be matched with the mark 33 on the pump casing 32 is marked to the casing 18 through making zig 35 couplable with said rotary shaft thus to assemble the injection pump 31 while matching said marks 33, 34.

The locker arm shaft 8 is made insertable into the cover 2 from side wall face 2a of cover 2 to be jointed to the side wall face 6a of cover 6 and fixed to cover 6 then the shaft 8 is thrust stopped by the cover 6.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate mounting performance for the engine of captioned construction by fastening the flanges of a crank case and a cylinder body, inserting fastening bolts from the crank case through the installation holes thus eliminating the disturbance of fins or the like during installation process. CONSTITUTION:A flange member 14 a provided on the upper face of a crank case 14 faces a joint face 11a provided on the lower face of cylinder block 11. Fastening bolts 11 are inserted into through holes 14b provided in the flange member 14a from the crank case and screwed into threaded holes 11b provided in a cylinder block 11, so as to fasten both the members. Therefore, this construction can provide easy means to fasten the cylinder body to the crank case without providing through holes for fastening bolts axially to the cylinder body as well as notched cooling fins.
