    • A device for interconnecting scaffolding elements (4) and standards (3) of a scaffolding (1) or similar. An engagement member (2), open at the top in the operating mode and connected to the standard, has a first engagement surface (11) facing the standard but extending spaced therefrom, and a first bearing surface (33), in the operating position facing upwards. A hook-shaped member (7) attached to the scaffolding element (4) exhibits a second engagement surface (29) facing away from the standard and a second bearing surface, in the operating position facing downwards. The hook-shaped member is hooked into the engagement member and is supported thereby through co-operation between the first and the second engagement surfaces as well as the first and second bearing surfaces. The hook-shaped member (7) exhibits two side cheeks (13, 14) arranged in spaced (16) relationship with each other and fixedly attached to the scaffolding element (4). In the interconnected mode of the coupling device, each cheek extends with an end portion (17, 18) towards the standard (3). A distance piece (26) is located between the end portions of the side cheeks, is fixedly attached to the end portions of both side cheeks and exhibits the major portion of the second engagement surface (31).

    • A connecting device has an attachment head and a clamping device for connecting horizontal or diagonal scaffolding elements to perforated disks of vertical post elements. The attachment head has a bearing surface on one side by which it is supported on the pipe of the post element. On the same side a horizontal slit is present, corresponding at least to the thickness of the perforated disks. The slit divides the bearing surface into two sub-surfaces. A feature is provided on the side opposite the bearing surface for welding on a pipe. The overall height of the attachment head on the side by which feature the attachment head is supported on the pipe is at least 68 millimeters. The top surface and the bottom surface of the attachment head taper continuously from the bearing surface to the feature for welding on the pipe.

    • A connecting piece is disclosed for connecting an elongate bracing element to an apertured locking disk on a scaffolding standard. The locking disk is of the sort that is provided with a plurality of apertures spaced around its perimeter. The connecting piece is provided with an upper portion, a lower portion and a slot between the upper and lower portions of suitable width to accommodate insertion of a disk therein. The upper and lower portions are provided with aligned apertures situated to align with an aperture on a disk. The connecting piece is provided with a locking wedge element captive in the apertures of the upper and lower portions and drivable through the aligned apertures of the upper and lower portions and the locking disk. The connecting piece is adapted for attachment to a said brace element, and is characterized in that it is provided with a vertical portion spanning the upper and lower portions at the rear thereof, the vertical portion being provided with a pair of bevelled surfaces extending rearwardly angled at substantially 45.degree. thereto each surface being adapted for connection of a connecting piece to a brace.

    • Disclosed herein is a support system for use in forming a temporary scaffolding such as a prefabricated scaffolding, a temporary system such as a panel support, or a structure such as a truss-type pillar, tower, etc. The support system comprises columnar members each provided with a plurality of flanges along the longitudinal direction thereof, connecting members each provided with joint shoes at both ends thereof, and wedges each driven into the joint shoe, the flanges each comprising a supporting piece along the circumferential direction thereof, the joint shoes each comprising a hollow housing having a pair of opposed wall bodies, and a hook loosely fitted movably in the housing, the wall bodies and the hook being provided with respective wedge insertion holes opposed to each other, and the hook being provided at an end portion thereof with a catch portion to be engaged with the supporting piece of the flange. When the wedge is driven into the wedge insertion holes in the condition where the catch portion is opposed to the supporting piece, the hook is retracted with the result of engagement of the catch portion with the supporting piece, whereas end portions of the wall bodies are pushed outward into contact with the outer surface of the columnar member.

    • A scaffolding comprises uprights (6), cross members (8) with connection members (12) by which the cross members may be connected to the upright members, and diagonal braces (10) with mounting formations (42) adapted to be interfitted with receiving formations (32, 34) of the connection members (12). The mounting formation (42) is generally cylindrical, and its longitudinal axis intersects the longitudinal axis of the brace substantially at right angles, generally centrally of the mounting formation. The mounting formation is carried by a cranked connection portion (44). The receiving formations (32, 34) are provided by transverse bores (36), with lateral recesses in which the connection portions (44) are located when the mounting formations (42) are positioned in the bores (36). This allows forces to be transmitted between the connection member (12) and the diagonal brace substantially on the longitudinal axis of the brace, over a range of angular articulation of the brace relative to the cross member.

    • A connector for use in builder's scaffolding systems for connecting crossmembers to upright members where the upright members have sockets provided thereon and each of the sockets has an internal clamping face. The connector is coupled to one end of the crossmember. It has an upper and a lower limb spaced apart for receiving the socket therebetween. A generally trapezoidal opening having four sides, two of which are non-parallel, is provided in the two limbs. In engaging the connector, two of the four sides form first and second clamping sides. A wedge coupling member is received within the trapezoidal opening and mounted for clamping engagement with the internal clamping face of the socket and selected portions of the first and second clamping sides. The trapezoidal opening permits connection of the crossmember at a plurality of angles to the upright within the range permitted by the first and second clamping sides.The connector is further provided with an abutment coupling having two spaced-apart arms for permitting at least one of the limbs to be received therebetween. The arms have an aperture through which the wedge member can pass free of clamping action. An abutment face is provided on the abutment coupling for abutting the upright member when the wedge clamping member is in pressure engagement with the first and second clamping sides and the internal clamping face of the socket.

    • The invention relates to scaffolding in which the uprights have sockets projecting outwardly at spaced positions along their length, the horizontal cross members of the scaffolding having spigots to engage in the sockets, a captive wedge being provided to cause the spigots to be clamped against the socket or upright. Such scaffolding in accordance with the invention is arranged so that in use the spigot is inserted into a socket and the wedge acts between the outside surface of the socket on the surface of the cross member tightly to draw the spigot against the corresponding inside surface of the socket. The "lower" narrower end of the wedge is formed or provided with a projection which, when the wedge is moved upwardly relative to the cross member it wedges against the surface of the cross member to hold the wedge in the withdrawn "uppermost" position so that the spigot can readily be removed from the socket.
