    • A process for injection molding a hollow plastic article (20) in which a low pressure heat-activated gas is injected in combination with a plastic material (28) into a mold cavity (30) of a plastic injection mold unit (32). When the plastic material (28) and heat-activated gas enter the mold cavity (30), the gas expands to outwardly exert pressure on the plastic material (28) thereby urging the plastic material (28) towards the walls of the mold cavity (30) to, in turn, form the hollow portions (22, 24) of the hollow plastic article (20). The gas remains within the hollow plastic article (20) and continues to exert outward pressure until the plastic article (20) has substantially cooled and hardened at which time the gas becomes dormant. Accordingly, no venting of the gas from the plastic article (20) is necessary.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize operation of measuring a molten resin by a screw in a method for manufacturing a foam molding.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a foam molding comprises: using a molding machine which has a plasticizing cylinder including a high-pressure kneading zone for contact mixing of a physical foaming agent and a molten resin obtained by plasticizing a thermoplastic resin, and a vacuum zone for discharging the physical foaming agent gasified from the molten resin contact mixed with the physical foaming agent, and a screw arranged in the plasticizing cylinder so as to be rotatable and movable forward and backward; controlling pressure of the vacuum zone at a first pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure and not higher than the maximum pressure of the high-pressure kneading zone reached at the time of contact mixing of the physical foaming agent with the molten resin in a state where communication between the high-pressure kneading zone and the vacuum zone is closed; and controlling a screw back pressure at a second pressure not higher than the first pressure and measuring a predetermined amount of the molten resin, from which the gasified physical foaming agent has been separated.
