The outer member 13 includes a fixed portion (rib 6) to be fixed to an upper wall of the exhaust pipe, a retainer portion 132 retaining the inner member 18, and an extending portion 131 formed closer to a top end side than the retainer portion 132. The extending portion 131 includes a clearance portion 19 disposed so as to have an air gap between itself and the inner member 18 and a front interference portion 133 disposed in a condition that a maximum air gap between the front interference portion 133 and the inner member 18 in a radius direction is 0.2 mm or less.

    • An injector has an inner sleeve between a needle pressure receiving face of a needle and a rear end face of a valve body. The inner sleeve is slidably fitted to an outer periphery of a middle shaft section of the needle. The inner sleeve receives a reaction force of a spring located between the inner sleeve and a pressurizing piston, so an axial tip end (edge section) of the inner sleeve is pressed against the rear end face to achieve close contact therebetween. Thus, a volume of a pressure chamber can be reduced, so a valve opening force for lifting the needle can be acquired efficiently. Accordingly, injection of a large flow rate can be performed by increasing a lift amount of the needle and also quick lifting of the needle can be performed.

    • A fuel injection valve includes a housing having an injection hole at a front end thereof, a fuel-collecting chamber that is communicated with the injection hole and is supplied high-pressure fuel from said fuel tank thereto, a pressure control chamber that is disposed on the opposite side of the fuel-collecting chamber with respect to the injection hole and is supplied high-pressure fluid from a supply source of high-pressure fluid thereto, and a valve needle to open and close the injection hole, the valve needle being disposed in the housing. Moreover, the first pressure-receiving surface is formed on the valve needle so that the first pressure-receiving surface faces injection hole side of the pressure control chamber.
