    • A press-connecting connector in which the press-connection of a plurality of rows of wires, arranged in a vertical direction, can be easily effected, and sufficient rigidity of a fitting hood portion at its open side is obtained. A plurality of connector housings are stacked together, and the connector housings have a fitting hood portion, and also have wire press-connecting openings, respectively, and press-connecting terminals are mounted in each of the connector housings in such a manner that the terminals are exposed through the opening, and extend into the fitting hood portion, and wires are adapted to be press-connected respectively to the press-connecting terminals. One of the plurality of connector housings has a common hood portion which is also used as a part of the other connector housing. The common hood portion of the one connector housing cooperates with a hood portion of the other connector housing to form the fitting hood portion.

    • An insulation piercing terminal is so designed that a piece of thin metal plate is pressed in such a manner that an insulation piercing plate having a pair of right and left insulation piercing blades each pair of which defines an insulation piercing slot, is bent raised against a belt-shaped bottom plate which is extended in a front-to-rear direction, and the pair of insulation piercing blades are located near the bending lines. In the insulation piercing terminal, reinforcing walls are provided at both ends of each of the bending lines to prevent the insulation piercing blades from being displaced when the wire is pushed therein.

The retaining projection, engagement portion, and packing are positioned so that, during insertion of the male connector housing into the female connector housing, the initial abutment of the retaining projection with the engagement portion coincides with the initial abutment of the seal lip with either the male connector housing or the female connector housing.
