      SOLUTION: This cylinder head gasket 1 is composed of first and second gasket bases 11, 12 held by the cylinder head and a cylinder block, and first and second sub-plates 13, 14 held by the first and second gasket bases, the first sub-plate has a thick part 13a formed by being folded and bent by hemming work and surrounding the cylinder bore, and a thin part 13b positioned at an outer periphery of the thick part, and further the second sub-plate is mounted in a state of surrounding an outer side of the first sub-plate, and has a thickness thinner than the thin part.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high strength and spring property as compared with the case of forming a full bead having a circular-arc section to thereby secure good sealing ability by providing an inside bore bead 11 formed in a range where adjacent combustion chamber holes are close to each other with a pair of side walls 10a and a bottom wall 10b connecting both side walls to each other.
      SOLUTION: A gasket base plate 1 is provided with inside bore beads 10 surrounding the outer peripheries of two or more combustion chamber holes 2 and outside bore beads 11 surrounding the outer peripheries of the inside bore beads, and the outside bore beads are not formed in a range where the adjacent combustion chamber holes are close to each other, and the outside bore beads are connected to each other to surround the two or more combustion chamber holes in common. The inside bore beads 11 are formed as a stepped bead including a pair of side walls 10a raised substantially vertically from the body part of the gasket base plate 1 and a bottom wall 10b connecting both side walls.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sealing performance at the peripheral edge of a combustion chamber hole.
      SOLUTION: The metal gasket comprises a base plate 11 having a full bead 13 provided around the combustion chamber hole 12 and a subsidiary plate 14 to be superimposed on the base plate 11, having a thick portion 15 formed at the end on the side of the combustion chamber hole 12. The metal gasket is mounted between the joint surfaces of a cylinder block and a cylinder head and fastened with fastening bolts to provide sealing between the joint surfaces. A protruded portion 18 having a top surface 17 approximately parallel to the base plate 11 is provided at a portion of the base plate 11 on the side of the combustion chamber hole 12 beyond the full bead 13, along the peripheral direction of the combustion chamber hole 12 by embossing molding, and the thick portion 15 is superimposed on the protruded portion 18.
