    • An electrical connector assembly includes a male connector housing (4) having shafts (43) projecting from its opposite side walls respectively. A locking hood (2) is mounted on the shafts (43) to be rotatively moved about them between a lying state that it lies along the top of the male connector housing (4) and a rising state relative to the top of the male connector housing (4). The locking hood (2) has on its distal end a cam projection (13) lifted up with insertion of a female connector housing (9) into the male connector housing (4). In a temporary latching state of the connector housings (4, 9), the cam projection (13) is engaged with a cam block (14) of the female connector housing (9) so that the female connector housing (9) is displaced. The rear end of the locking hood (2) extends obliquely downwardly to provide an elastic member (202). When the locking hood (2) is rotatively moved to rise up, the elastic member (202) abuts against the top of the male connector housing (4) to elastically deform, urging the locking hood (2) to the former state. As a result, the locking hood (2) can be prevented from becoming an obstacle in the storage of the connector assembly and can be prevented from easily dropping off.

    • A pair of connector housing may be temporarily engaged so as to facilitate efficient connection operation thereof. A lever 15 is pivotably attached to a side wall of the male connector housing 11. When a female connector housing 12 is inserted into the male connector housing 11, a cam receiving protrusion 17 of a cover 13 resiliently deforms lugs 15a of a lever 15 to be opened, so that the cam receiving portion may be advanced through a portion 23 into a cam groove 16. After such advancement, lugs 15a are returned to their original position by means of resilient deformation, so that the portion 23 is engaged with the cam receiving protrusion 17, so as to prevent dislodgement of the cam receiving protrusion. The thickness of the portion 23 of the cam groove is selected so as to prevent dislodgement of the cam receiving protrusion. A restricting protrusion 24 is protruded laterally from the cam receiving protrusion 17. The restricting protrusion serves to urge the lugs 15 downwardly, so as to maintain constant amount of engagement between the cam receiving protrusion 17 and the portion 23 of the cam groove. Another restricting protrusion 25 extending in a vertical direction may be provided in the side wall 1 of the male connector housing 11.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a connector provided with a mechanism for preventing reverse rotation of a lock arm. SOLUTION: A lock arm 11 is formed in cantilever state on an upper face of a connector housing 10 and engaging projections 13 are formed in both right and left sides in the rear end part of the lock arm 11. Protective walls 14 are formed in both sides sandwiching the lock arm 11 and engaging holes 15A are formed in the rear end parts of the protective walls 14 and deformation of the lock arm 11 in the inverse direction to the bending direction of the lock arm is prevented by fitting the projections 13 in the holes 15A. In this way, since the lock arm 11 is prevented from being rotated reversely by fitting the projections 13 and the holes 15A, while being protected from interference with the projections 13, the protective walls 14 can be set as close as possible to the lock arm 11 and the gap of the protective walls 14 and the lock arm 11 is made narrow and thus the connector can be miniaturized.
